anyone here play Quake 3 (be it regularly or otherwise)? I've kinda got back into playing it after a few months whilst I was revising and finishing my art course. So if anyone fancies some gaming, just lemme know. I tend to play Threewave (ctf mod) mostly, but OSP or regular q3 are just as good alternatives.

yeah, i was talking to kit about how bad the netcode is atm.
we'll find a public server, that should help with some of the lag problems.. whereabouts are you? need to find a place as close to both you and the UK as poss (hopefully not the middle of the atlantic ;))

haven't tried rambo yet, but I read the manual.. it sounds fun! :)
at the moment, I prefer DM because I'm still getting used to playing it, but I had a 2v2 with me and Soul against 2 bots which was fun. I tried a public game of 3v3 CTF, but spent most of the time 4v2 lol, so that wasn't great :)

Voetsjoeba and BlastBoy: very cool, very cool. I used to play CS before it went all to sh*t with hacks and w*nkers. q3: we'll have to find a server that everyone has a half-decent ping on and play - if we can't do that, we'll have to play on a small OSP 1v1 server and duel it out :)

I don't know, I've never heard of Urban Terror before ... CS is all over the internet and has a million players. But be warned, the CS online universe is full of pro's and jerks :P As a newbie, you don't survive 3 seconds.

You need a d*mn good PC to run Urban Terror BlastBoy, it's supposed to be quite good, but it way exceeds q3's normal system requirements.

I'd love to :bad:, but I wouldn't be able to anyway. You see, when we switch internet connection we have to wait an hour before the connection gets back. And my brother's pc (the Quake 3 one), is so ****ed up that it crashes every two seconds ...

Now that I think about it ... I have a problem ! :-\

I'll "format c:" my brother's pc sometimes, and hopefully it will get better ... Or, we'll take it to the repairshop. And then, then, my young padawan ... :bad:

if you've got osp, that'd be great - a 1v1 server will be considerably less laggy than most others :)

blast: it's all about practice m8. q3 might seem harder because you can't just camp in one spot waiting for the next sucker to turn up.

thor: latest version is point release 1.32 - comes with punkbuster :) which is good (make sure you aren't cheating or using ogc! :P)

oh i love q3. I love the thrill of being able to shoot people with the rocket launcher in mid-air, or ricocheting a grenade from around the corner at some unexpecting player. I love this game.

there are plenty of places to get the 1.32 point release... the point release filename is: q3pointrelease_132.exe in case you wanted to search for it. should be pretty easy to find. use http://www.planetquake.com to find all the info/filenames, but chances are you won't be able to download of PQ itself.. FilePlanet links :sigh:

www.dayofdefeatmod.com wrt voices - you're thinking of Unreal Tournament (although 'Humiliation, Excellent and Impressive' all feature in q3). or at least teamwork shooters? there are plenty of team-based mods for q3. in fact Threewave (flag-based team mod) is one of the most popular versions of q3 you can play :P

whereabouts are you Voet? try and connect to jolt in the UK - generally gives good pings to most Euro players (assuming they can connect :)

well.. actually it's pretty much just 4 of us :) it's difficult cos we're all over the world.. so finding a server where we would all get a decent ping is pretty difficult/impossible - also... timezones are always an issue :)

Yea totally agee upon the timezone issues. More meat to slaughter, heh! If you indicating about slaughter at Quake, then you are wrong. Im from Clan DVS(DeViouS) which is pretty much the best in the Middle East. :) Anyways ill post in here when im available. Prolly after 10 hours or so. What time is it there, its like 2Am here.
