View Full Version : What's the most embarassing song you looove?

For me, I'm afraid, it's Clocks by Coldplay.
*blush* *blush* *blush*
But it gets worse, cast yer mind back to the late 80s if you're that old:
Tiffany - I think we're alone now
Black - Wonderful Life
Johnny Hates Jazz - Shattered Dreams
...and many, many more.
What are yours? Hmm?

ZOMG speaking of No Doubt: I love The Real Thing by Gwen Stefani. In a very naieve, 1988 kind of way.

"Standing Still" by Jewel. I can't tolerate anything else she does, but for some reason that one makes my rump move. And my wife looked at me like I was insane when I cranked up "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday. But then again, Aimee Mann's solo work has been uniformly excellent, so i guess I'm not too embarrassed about that one.

I appreciate his guitar work :(
Why is it embarrasing to like John Mayer? Eric Clapton likes him and if the best blues guitarist in the world thinks he's ok, he's ok. :hitman:
For me the most embarassing song would have to be by one of the cheese metal bands I love.
The three stand outs would probably be Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, Africa by Toto, and Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas. My sister regularly laughs at me for listening to them.

Although I agree that most of these tunes are somewhat dodgy (at least the ones I know off ;)), don't put the all time classic "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" down ... It's actually the worlds first rap song - made because of a dare (maybe as a joke .. dunno) by some DJ form radio Luxembourg. Apparently his mate said something like "you can't make a hit song, because you can't sing" and he set out to prove him wrong.

indeed, it's I am Stretched on Your Grave, but she didnt write it, I don't think, although her version is the best I've heard. As far as I know it's a generic irish folk song. Dead Can Dance also do a version of it which isn't as good

August 30th, 2007, 01:59 PM
Hey, I don't mind great big sea, I wouldn't buy their album, but still not bad. In Canada we have a group that regulates Canadian radio and TV (CRTC) and basically theres a rule that all stations must have at least 40% (I think) Canadian content. Since great big sea is Canadian I heard an awful lot of them in the late 90s. Haha In a way I guess I was forced to give them a chance.
