I recently upgraded to Flash CS3, and I'm beginning to love it. Just waiting to get time to start learning AS3. But until then, I sometimes want to save my flash-files as Flash 8. Even though I save my file as Flash 8, Flash still wants to save the file as Flash 9. I've choosed "Save as", chosen Flash 8 as the format, but when I choose "Save" after that, a popup shows saying that the file will be converted into Flash 9.
Is it possible to keep the flash-version of the file when I'm working in CS3?

it should say it will be converted to Flash 8

Check the swf tab under publish settings. By default it's set to Flash 9/AS3. Maybe you need to change this before you can save.

When I save as Flash 8, it automatically changes to Flash 8 / AS2 in publish settings. Still, I get the annoying message.

This is the message I get, and I get it every time i press Ctrl+S... Guess I'm forced to learn AS3 now ;)

You have to use Save AS. A normal Save will default to CS3

As I was saying, that is just what I want to avoid. Once I've saved it AS Flash 8 (with Save AS), I want it to stay that way and not use "save as" every time I need to save the document.

You can work with a file in CS3 and save it as CS3 until you're done. The only time you would need to save as Flash 8 is to open it in Flash 8. You don't have to continuously save it as Flash 8 every time you save when working with it in CS3.

I agree. And I think the current behavior is being rethought (after already being released with CS3 of course)

Do you mean rethought by Adobe?
