hey all.
Some E commerce want me to do a layout design for some site they're making. It's a dirtbike tyre shop.

Here's the site they have now.
http://www.motoz.com.au/Design.html

Here's a site they really like and want theirs to be like.
http://www.gtyre.com/home.html

They want a grunge look to their site ( a clean grunge look I guess)

Here's what I have so far. It needs some oomph though. Any suggestions?

how about a tyre track watermark across the page for a background.

what you have so far looks good, alot better than they have at the minute for sure

No offense to the company, but I did cringe when I saw their current site. But they are getting an redo which is great.:smirk:

i like the look of it. id definitely put something behind in the background, the off white looks a bit clean considering it is motorcross your dealing with. I wouldn't make it too dark, just use some sort of image. Its definitely better than what they have!!!

I did NOT see the background on their present site coming!
And seperate .swf for every button? Makes life really hard for Opera users.

anyways!
I like what you have, but I think the boxes for the sections need some work. They just seem very blurred... I don't know, that's just what I think. I can't think of anything to do with them instead, so I probably shouldn't have opened my mouth :D

oh, and the top of the white square is grunged, but not the bottom. Looks a bit sharp considering every other edge is grunged.

jesus, this site got a lot worse.

I just got informed that I have to use the pre existing logo:worried:
and now I have to change all the colours cause it's the same colours thier competitors use...

Ok so here it is with the old logo:tired: and I got told I have to use a particular tyre image in the banner:{

and I'm not allowed to use yellow/orange
they want a nice mix of red/blue/grey:cantlook:

now that you have the actual logo in ... its not really going with the whole colour scheme of the site .... plus the tyre image on your header looks really bad ... i think the 1st one was much much better ... somehow to me the body and content looks very empty too much whitespace ... maybe u could have some low opacity bgs or something like that ...

sites coming up well tho ... wud love to see the final output ....

yeah i'm quite annoyed about the logo, it's really screwed me.:crying: I need to do something ( i guess colour wise) with the background to match the logo but also take focus off it. As for the tyre i'm gonna tell the developer that it looks weird and that we need to use the first tyre image I had.

any suggestions?

jeez it's getting worse, i'm only allowed to use their low res image of 'their' tyre and I have to use the animated logo because the client likes it.

Sorry to whinge but it's getting annoying. I'm kind of wondering why they're bringing in a designer when they won't let me really design anything...

what should i do peeps?

very nice colour choice.
I think you should decrease the white space and increase fonts line-height value.

oh well, the project is on hold temporarily until we hear back from the client.:snooze:

i would turn that orange banner background in to grey and maybe get rid of the oz logo out of the text and do a grunge look on the flag behind the letters oz and mybe fade it out over the tyre???

i do prefer the orage over the red, but i know that wasn't your choice! it still looks good though!

yeah the thing is I'm not allowed to make any changes to the logo. It's kinda weird they want a great site but make me use a average logo which I can't alter, won't let me use images that aren't theirs and wont let me use certain colours.

on top of that the developer won't send any of my designs to the client so I can find out if on the right path. The developer says he likes some of it but doesn't like other bits but won't give me any ideas/ suggestions on what to do. So it's kinda stumbling in the dark at the moment.

does it have to be so big? it's size swallows up the contents.
