Hi- I was looking for some tips or resources (I have 3 books) but I was wondering it there were any good resources on building a Flash site from scratch; everytime I search, it's always about morphing, creating an animation, but never anything about putting it all together as one... any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lisa

Wait, are you trying to have your entire site reside in one page? Because there are several reasons that isn't a good idea (size, the face that you can't use the back button on your browser) it's better to have components of your site (the buttons, the title...) be different .swf files and then use the getURL("...") function to navigate from page to page.

sure you can use flash and have backbutton and deep linking and good google indexing if you design your site well.

I know Google now indexes flash files, but especially for someone new to flash, it's just a good idea not to do everything in one big flash file; the load time is a big reason for this. I can't stand how a lot of really high end flash design companies build complex interactive sites, but they take for ever to load, especially if you're on a wireless, mobile or dial up connection.

This video series that Craig Campbell did for learnFlash.com is still (I think) the most comprehensive presentation on how to build a website in Flash. In total it is a 37 part video series (something like 12 hours in total of materials) that takes you from starting a website in Flash 8 to finishing/publishing that website in Flash 8.

http://www.learnflash.com/flash8websites.html

If you check out the link above 4 parts of the 37 parts are available to be looked at at no charge so you get an idea as to what it is about.

Also it can be a good idea to sign on to learnFlash.com's email newsletter. Of course the site's ultimate objective is to have us purchase their product. (In the case of the above mentioned 37 part series I did purchase that.) But in an effort to attract us to their video teachings they make available for us to download, free of charge, some of their videos as they come out.

Sure no one wants to be bombarded with buy this or buy that type of emails. On the other hand if you want a free resource to learn Flash I think it is great that they make some of this available for free (of course it is a marketing effort on their part). They send - on average - an email like every other week (twice a month) with the link to check out the current Flash video tip. (Of course there is other stuff in the email newsletter because it is, after all, a marketing device for them. But if you make your way down about 2/3ds through their email you'll find the link to the free video Flash tip.)

That's your job, now that you've learnt all that, that's what YOU do. Put it all together.
