I learned a lot from my driving class. Personaly I'd be a lot happier people were all required to take a course before getting their license.
Even if you're board and feel like you're learning nothing, remember that if you choose a good insurance agency, you can get something like 15% off your insurance. When you're under 25 that's a lot of money to be saving.

mmh driving school are utterly boring for the theoritical stuff. Speed limits, priority, trying to change your common sense...
And incredibly hard to meet girls (at least in France) how the hell can you start conversation about cars with a nice respectable girl which wants to go away anyway..
But haargh. Learning is a pain. I'm getting my license in 5 month. Until then people can travel without worrying (although we have the highest car accident injuries)

my driving school was fun (the driving part was more annoying/boring). We had this little hyperactive cop-lady teaching the class and she told all kinds of stories and when she got excited about one her eyes bugged and she started talking really fast and ranting on about how stupid people were lol, good times, good times.
I was probably just lucky ;)
Tips for the road test!
- dont speed! (duh lol but its common to miss that)
- at a light intersection when turning left, 'take control of your intersection' It seems like an agressive approach, but they like that.
- in curvier roads, brake before a turn and ease off the break durring the turn. You can even exaggerate this a little bit since it shows them you know what you're doing.
- use your signal and always double check before changing lanes/turning etc.
- and lastly but not least, use distraction tactics with stories of your adolescence (keep your eyes on the road though)

lol. i hope i get a fast car!!! :P:P:P:P :P i'm sure the last thing a driving school would want to invest in, is in a fast car. insurance would be too high.
i remember once i was supposed to have driving lessons, but got the dates all mixed up (it was summer, months and days have no meaning to me). so one day this random stranger knocks on my door and says, "alright, let's go". and i was like wtf...i'm about to be kidnapped. then i looked at the sign on the car and realized what a retard i was.:P

My driving lessons are already over. Now I have to drive a year with my parents.
I still have some good memories about it. The one who was sitting next to me, Ronny, was pretty funny.
I guess i was terrible. I was really a madman in the traffic, he always said " adjust your speed":) But riding 30 in the city is a bit very slow... :x
Now things are going a lot better. I have my L and 3 times a week I'm going for a ride with one of my parents. Fun!

you should of said, please dont shoot!.:trout:
this lady took me out for 2hrs. She made me drive all over creation. i think it ended up being 50 miles. Then i was close to going through a green, then it turned yellow, so i was going to go for it. The lady pusshed the breaks. for no reason at all. i could of made it with time to spare.
Then when ever she would see a friend. she would go over my arm, and press the horn
i was getting sick of her.
all that lady says is "DUDE" and "Buddy"
im going to ask for another instructor

lol :P
Yellow means stop alex, not go :P She did right
Alex
July 7th, 2003, 03:41 PM
yellow means stop if its safe to do so,or something like that, but if your already out there, i cant see why she stoped the car
asphaltcowboy
July 7th, 2003, 03:41 PM
though, she did something VERY wrong by beeping her friends! that's a complete misuse of the horn and not something an instructor should do! (in theory at least) the horn is only there to make others aware of your presence; not to signal friends, not to be used in anger. that's quite poor.
but lol at "for no reason at all" - what.. you mean like the lights changing to 'stop'? If there's time to stop (which there obviously was) then you must stop. that's the point. it's not "stop if don't think you can make it in time" :sigh:

what about if you're at a junction? what if some clown decides to go through the starting yellow (like you've gone though the stopping yellow)? major crash anyone? some people.. honestly :sigh:
Alex
July 7th, 2003, 03:45 PM
you had to be there to understand my point of view.
i was crossing the crosswalk when it changed to yellow, then when i was passed the crosswalk, she stoped the car.

Tip #1 remember to signal when you're approaching the parallel parking space (that one always gets people).
Tip #2 i'm not trying to freak you out or anything, well maybe a little, but remember that you're driving a ton (or more) of metal around at like 60 mph....YOU COULD DIE AT ANY MINUTE
okay, well, maybe not any minute, but be careful...for some reason everybody always thinks that they are invincible when they are 16 (I thought my mom was crazy then too). i can recall driving at speeds well over 100 mph...now that i look back at it, i see how STUPID i really was.
good luck :)

What's wrong riding 100km/u?
You can ride that fast, but you must adjust your speed on the situation. If you're riding on a long strait road, why not riding 100?
