I'm working on isolating some photos in PhotoShop, and this one I'm working on is giving me some trouble. There's a corner of the image (see photo) that is reflecting some yellow paper that was sitting nearby when the picture was taken. I'm trying to remove that yellowness, and make it consistent stainless steel like the rest of it is. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to go about it? I've started messing with the Clone Stamp and Pattern Stamp tools, but it wasn't quite working how I'd hoped. Thanks!

Thanks hybrid

I gave it a shot, but the stainless steel has a blue tint to it, so it doesn't really work out :P

I'm just doing some tedious stamping and smudging right now... I'm sure when I'm done somebody will hit me with a magical solution.

yea Id select the area with a fethers brusj, desaturate and play with levels. You using cs3?

Nope, just CS2...

I'm not all too familiar with PhotoShop, so you'll have to excuse my noob question: But when I separate the area I want to play with into a new layer, and add an adjustment layer to that to change Hue/Saturation and levels, it seems to apply the adjustment layer's effects to the whole image, not just the parts that exist in the new layer I have selected... Sorry if I'm not being clear enough, I'm tryin :P

You say "select the area with a fethers brusj, desaturate and play with levels" - the only way I know to desaturate and play with levels is an adjustment layer, which I thought had to be applied to a layer, not a selection - is there another way?

Thanks for the help.

To get the saturation and hue right always first select the layer you want to work with and it would be recommended to select the exact area you will be working on with the lasso tool ( on that specific layer ). The rest is a piece of cake.

Cool, when I lassoed as well as selecting that layer, it worked perfectly. I think I got it now, thanks guys!

Here's how you can do it. Duplicate the layer with the photo on it. Then...

1. Lasso the general area you want to change.
2. Image >> Adjustments >> Replace Color. Dialogue window pops up.
3. Change the eyedropper pointer to the eyedropper +.
4. Increase the fuzziness to between 20 and 30.
5. Select all of the yellowish areas with the eyedropper +.
6. Start playing with the Hue/Saturation/Lightness settings until you get it right.

Good luck!
