is this some volleyball team logo?
It looks kind of too crowded for me...
I'd remove the background and the figure.
The V looks like Comic Sans...
I'd go with less shiny/bevel stuff and just make a custom V.
//just a personal opinion

and as for the font it's not comic...about the custom v it's a good idea but i am not very good at making shapes myself!!!!but i'll give it a try!!
well which one do you prefer th first or the second one so i can choose where to work ?
i thought that the figure is very nice there . . .

the volleyball in the background doesn't work. makes it look messy and ruins any of the clean shapes you seem to be aiming for. I would suggest that when you're doing the logo designing, don't include ANY of the fancy stuff like bevels, gradients, anything like that. Work with flat colors, it will help you to actually think about the shape and what you want from that.
if you still want to make it look shiny afterwards, go back and put in all your layer effects etc.

lose the bevels and shinyness, logos are supposed to be vectorized + simple:D

well the final product can be prettied up as much as possible- so shinyness and stuff definately works, BUT
In the previsualisation stage, work from simple forms - just solid colour and clean lines.
The flashy stuff can come later.

darkmotion - you're absolutely right. I'd start with just a black and white logo, and make sure that looks stellar before adding colors. This way, you'll have a strong foundation to decorate later for various applications.
Also, I'd make a version of your logo that would look good on a dark background, and a version that would look good on a light or white background. This way, you'll never have to worry about your logo not standing out. I've attached an image of my company's logo, showing the progression for ya.
