I am no great scripter, by any means; what I'm good at is slappin' MC's together ;)
This is my personal site; I do web design part-time (much more as a hobby than a profession) and I'm curious to see what you guys think.
I wanted to make something that was different, and offered a unique navigation, rather than the old rollover menus. Because of that, it may not be immediately discernible, so either click the '?' next to my name or flip the business card over to see the options.
So anyway, check it out, and let me know any thoughts, comments, critiques, mild insults, etc.

Why's there a pen making the blue lines? I'd get rid of the whole pen thing. Also, you might want to do navigation like that fish site. It moved the whole screen when you move mouse to left/right/up/down... And get rid of Hal's Design ? thing. It doesn't blend in too well.

You've got some neat stuff on there, but the one thing that stood out for me was the fact that you have Click.Drag.Design, which implies somewhere i'm going to click and drag. My first assumption was that if i clicked and dragged anywhere, all your objects would move as the animation implied once the page had loaded. Maybe you could do something like they have in flash and photoshop where you hold the space bar, then click and drag except make it so you don't have to hold the space bar...
if that makes any sense at all....

I have a fairly large screen (1280x1024) and I had trouble getting the items to fit, sorry - I didn't like the experience. Though, I think the idea is useable...

Well, the whole thing was set up to be a sort of "virtual desktop" in that all the MCs are individually draggable (as opposed to the whole stage) and can be manipulated in various ways - the pen writes, the ipod plays music, the phone talks, the newspaper actually reports news (via RSS), the palm pilot has little mini-apps, etc. I know the navigation can be confusing - it is not meant to fit on the screen, but after opening the menu, the individual buttons will slide the whole desktop to the selected xy coodinates which centers on your choice, so really only one item is visible at a time. I was going for originality as opposed to ease of use ;)
Anyway, thanks for the advice! It is a work in progress (and probably always will be) and I definitely appreciate the help.
Cheers,

Personally, I think it was a really interesting experience being on the page. The navigation confused me as well though.

The fonts are yicky.
The whole pieces of paper on a table idea is very cliched, and in this case it doesn't look that flash.
For one, the bg would be nicer if it resembled a table top.
The gloss on the photograph is way too strong too.

Heh, some of the pages in the portfolio can be torn right off. :D
