View Full Version : "mailto:" in SWF vs HTML

Is an e-mail-link ("mailto:") in a .swf-file as vulnerable to spam as one in a HTML-file?
I have a client that got tons of spam after publishing their current homepage (all HTML) some time ago, with e-mail-links ("mailto:").
Now we are discussing a new homepage and they wonder if it is less risky to have their "mailto:" baked into a site built entirely in Flash. (If not, they don't want links, only the adressess as text.)

Sincerely

I'm fairly certain that it would be difficult for any bots to pull out mailto addresses out of a flash page.

Just add a form in the flash usually makes it a lot easier for users.
