Greetings. I would be eternally grateful if some of you guys could roll your design eyes over my new website.

www.lemonaise.com

I've had a site at the URL for a number of years, but decided to go for a Flash site instead, largely because it would be great fun to do. I still need to finish an HTML version, but constructive criticism at this stage would be very useful.

Cheers.

Direct and concise. Functional. Good. Improve the colors of the page bg and the flash bg and make it more "spicy" and "lemony". Not really an issue, just a suggestion. It's good as it is.

Maybe have some pop-up, tooltip kinda box containing info about the project(s) when someone hovers over the thumbs? That'd be great.

Most of all, INCREASE the frame rate! :thumb2:

Thanks Sir Phoenix. Great suggestions, I'll certainly take those on-board. I was worried about the colour scheme as it looks quite different on some of the screens I've tried it on.

I suggested the color change only because "lemonaise" doesn't really make one think of red. Nothing else. :thumb:

Very neat and smooth site panda. But I completely agree with Phoenix the frame rate is reaaally sluggish. Reminds me of the days when I had nothing but dial up. :wasted:

And maybe another thing. The site seems kind of small on my screen. I guess on a 1024x768 it fills up quite nicely, but these days there seem to be a whole lot of wide screens. You may want to do something with that background or give resolution options. Just a suggestion (I am pretty newb at designing myself)...

Totally agree with the other 2 comments, looks a little lonely at the top of my screen 1280x1024, could do with being in the centre, but other than that i think its a clean and straight to the point site, the kind of sites i like.

The red and yellow make a very powerful color combination. I like the dark red swirly in the background. The text directly under "Lemonaise" looks too much like links to parts of the site. Maybe make it smaller or a darker color to keep people from clicking on them.
Very professional.

Looks good. Not a big fan of the colors, have to agree with whomever said that the name 'lemonaise' doesn't make me thing of those sort of muted and desaturated colors.

Aside from also echoing the 'speed it up already' note, my only other comment is that it seems kinda weird that your first 4 links are too to the same site. 2 is pushing it, anymore and I'm not sure people will keep clicking.

Thanks for the comments on this. I haven't read one I disagree with and most of them will no-doubt go into the next version. I'm under pressure to put a lot more information on the site too, so I may have to start from scratch at some point.

In terms of frame rate, the Flash is on 24fps at the moment, do you think this is to little. What do you recommend as a standard frame rate?

I kinda agree that the colours don't really shout 'LEMONS', but then I agree with Schyfis that the red and yellow are quite powerfully different. I think I'm going for eye-catching rather than pleasant for this site. My old site used yellow and black, which was quite dull, but it's really difficult to get lemony yellow to work with other colours. Any colour suggestions though, will be gratefully received.

I'll maybe go for a resizable movie for the next version. I agree it could be a bit bigger. Only 26% of users are on over 1024x768 though and I'll be a lucky if a lot of my audience have Flash installed, never mind massive widescreens. The resolutions options idea is a good one.

As for the links at the bottom, I totally agree. I'll be adding more portfolio stuff and mix it up a bit more. Some of the images aren't showing on mine too, so I'll have to fix that.

Thanks again.

1) Work on the fonts a bit, make the font sharper ( it's really blurry )
2) I don't really like the fact that i can drag that little window outside the main body
3) Pump up the frame rate, things as way too slow
4) After you are done with the fonts, make sure you have the text fields on integers ( whole numbers, example: x: 100 y: 200 , otherwise your font will be blurry )

very nice. but i agree with the rest...maybe change up the colors and speed up the frames.
...if it was up to me:

i'd use a liquid layout with a tiled background image and keep your main content box centered within the browser. if you do it that way, your little "drag me" window wont be confined...it'll flow free, like a bird!

2 cents given,
