It's not that bad! Got some nifty features, but it's not AMAZING. Maybe The FWA didn't have many submissions that day? ;)

That sounds about right! Maybe I should submit some of my sites to The FWA now... ha!

Visually I think it's not bad, but the nav doesn't really work for me. Too much going on at once.

O rly?!? Do tell...
I'm a "web whore" :p: , I look at tons of sites and I'm pretty good at memorizing designs and I've never seen anything like that before. While I don't like it... I wouldn't say
PREDICTABLE AND UNORIGINAL.

I think its a nice enough website but, to get a FWA?, muuu, especially when you look at some of the other sites they award it is a bit under standard. But it is a nice website, and above most peoples abilities (including mine), but saying that it is a nice and simple site and it does do the job well and it has been well thought out, and i suppose on a portfolio site you don't want loads of distractions you just want to look at the work. Its not a 'wow' site but after some mumbling I can see how it got FWA.

You guys serious? The drag zoom thing is way cool. How can that be predictable and unoriginal?

Hey guys, I'm the one that made entrance4. I found this post through google analytics.
Anyhow, I started the site as an experimental nav for dynamically resizing content and turned it into a simple portfolio. Upon encouragement from some classmates and professors I decided to submit, not expecting it to come out on the other side (though I can't say I'm disappointed :) ). I understand that it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm pretty proud of it, especially considering I made it as a junior in college.
The main idea was to give the most attention to the work and have the design of the portfolio be secondary. Hence the sparseness. I'm reading each comment too so feel free to critique, doesn't bother me none :) cheers

Thought so, its a very good site and as i've said it is better than I could do, but how ever clever it is it is underwhelming. I'm sure you will be getting plenty of response from the fwa, all I can say is well done for getting S.O.T.D. and if this is your first version im looking forward to V2.
One to watch.

i for one, love it. probably the draggable center part is what really impressed me. good work icd2k3. :)
and to those who say that it is unoriginal, how many sites have that "draggable center part which resizes the image" thing?

haha yea quite a few people don't even notice it. It was hard to find a medium between letting the user know they can drag the center without like 5 pointing signs flashing "drag here!" lol thanks for the compliment.
