Ok so duncanhall did his portfolio so I thought I would follow suit and get something up on the internet (Yes I am a copycat!!!). Anyway so this is just a quick work in progress.

Note: I am not going to be keeping teh domain name digitalcarnival.com for long so dont comment on the fact that the site resembles nothing similar to name.

I worked on it all last night and this morning, hope you guys like it. I personally cant think of what more to put it even though it feels empty :sad:

Extra Note: Its based on the very popular template 'plain' by I think James Kosler originally (im not sure about name)

I need sleep I'll read all your harsh comments later.

Forgot to mention, IE6 plays up big time so I set up a detection and re-direct. Also teh contact form isnt finished (But it does have an AWESOME AJAX auto-completer for teh subject field)

Well, Stu, not a fan of the header. Although I'm not a big red fan (it makes me want to eat tumors) the red -> black gradient isn't as hot as I would like.

It ain't online, ay?

EDIT::

Well, it's your link that's broken.. it says "canival" ;)... But back to topic;

I'll say it's W.I.P.! (You said it too! He he..).. Some stuff's missing, some stuff is bad...

The first thing I don't like, which I believe isn't caused by its un-finishedss is the menus roll-over.. It's out of the sites style, I believe..

Sorry for the... well, crappy comment, but I'm kinda tired, so... Hmfg

Hate picking colors? Someone posted this a while ago, I thought it was useful: http://kuler.adobe.com/

If you're a programmer, it doesn't show off enough of your skills. The javascript thing is a little confusing, when clicking a link, a block of warning text appears, then fades out when the page changes. That's a little odd. Try losing that text when the thing fades and reloads. I didn't look at your code yet, but are you using some scriptaculous in there? If that fade is AJAX, I think it's better to have your content fade in and out rather than the entire page. It's a little disorienting when everything dissappears and reappears but the nav is the same.

Hi Evil Drummer-
I like the flowers, although they should be sharpened up a bit to make them pop (either export them at better quality or retrace them in a vector format or use unsharp mask).
im not too stoked on the red header and footer. It screams template... maybe you could ditch them and incorporate the cool flowers as the header and footer instead.
Again I think you could do more with your graphic elements.
Not bad though, for less than 24hrs

I think you should change the header so the flowers do not overlap the text. It kind of gets lost in it. Add another colour into the mix too - would really be more dynamic!

To be honest, the Javascript feels added for the sake of Javascript. Why's it even there?

^ The javascript is there because alot of it is AJAX'd up and the version you see is set up so it is READY for the AJAC stuff, and without the javascript load it screws up when the calls are rendered at different times.

And I'll try and add some stuff over weekend as I have little to no time this week :(

Then gracefully degrade.
