Hey guys, I'm planning on bringing back WRAF, since it's been on hiatus for a while (I didn't have a job, but I have one now.) One of the things I need is people who can do sound effects, either with fruity loops or whatever... this is going to be pretty serious, and there's going to be deadlines and everything... you know the deal. So if you want to help out, reply here.
Also, I'm looking for more DJs... right now the only DJs would be Soul and I (and maybe Kit)... if you want to do your own shows for WRAF, you need to make sure you know flash....
Thanks
Raf

hehe, I used to do Savage Radio for a bit. Music and quake 3 commentary :) Not sure I'll actually have much time at the moment.. but maybe we'll see. My online situation is hazy since my pc isnt on the network.
btw, "if you want to do your own shows for WRAF, you need to make sure you know flash" - why is that exactly?

Man, I guess I got me a stalker..
anyways... here's how it works. You submit ten songs to me, and I approve of them. 2 of them can be mainstream, and I always have the final say on that.
Then you go ahead and make the show... the instructions are at http://wraf.lavaland.net/player/template.htm
If we get enough DJ's, I'll relax things to a show every two weeks.

sounds like a whooole load of effort. so you record your voice separately? all the inbetweens? and then stick it all together?
lava

Yeah... what I do is record my voice, convert it to an MP3, and just import all the MP3s into the flash document and stick them appropriately in the timeline. I know Soul likes to do it a little bit different - he does the whole show on SoundForge, and then makes me stick it in the flash thing...

Beer... right now I'm trying to make a game plan for WRAF... in the meantime, you can provide me with suggestions as to what you would do with your radio show, and what kind of content would be there.
You also have to realize that this is complete volunteer stuff... at least for now, and I need dj's who are going to be committed to this

well... live feeds (shoutCAST) are always really cool... if you've got a server (or no someone that has :)). How long are the shows btw? Cos chat is always good. :)

Well, usualy play music. Most of my favorite music, or the music I listen too in not mainstream. Also I have a wide taste in music, so I can dedicate each show to a diffrent type of music and so on.

that's one of the things that I want to do eventually - have a dedicated server and play music 24/7. But this will have to do right now. I don't care how long the shows are, as long as they're 10 songs long...
asphaltcowboy
June 23rd, 2003, 11:40 AM
at least 10 songs? :)
lava
June 23rd, 2003, 02:20 PM
Yeah... You can make it as long as you want, but the minimum number of songs I require for any specific show is 10...

hey, if you want to... go ahead...
So what do you want to do with the show? How often, etc..
asphaltcowboy

hmm, tbh, I dont really know. I dont have a lot of time atm. esp this week with my exam.. personally I prefer SHOUTcast. unfortunately, the newest version of SHOUTcast doesnt let you record it, which would have made non-live feeds a lot easier and smoother as well - would have also meant you could post live shows that people missed. stooooopid SHOUTcast.
who knows, I might try and put something together over the weekend...
*tries to think of an 'angle'* :beam:

the thing is that eventually, I want to have a flash player for it... we'll just have the mp3s on the server, and I'd write some php thing for it so that it streams...
