Before creating this thread I did search for the question I am going to ask, but I could not find the answer. So I ask it now, I am trying to insert an audio file on a web page in frontpage. I do not want the visitor to be able to download the file but I do want them to able to listen to it and control it (play, pause, stop). Is there a way I can do this? If anyone knows I would appreciate it if you responded to my message.

The only way i can think of having controls is converting it into a .RAM file. I forgot the name of the program. once i find out the name i will post it.

I think there is a way to do that with an embedded quicktime, I've seen it been done... just don't know how, sorry.

I'm thinking about just allowing the visitors to listen to a song in an .swf file, I can't seem to find a better way.

I don't like Quicktime!!! Of all the media viewing applications out there, Quicktime is my worst enemy!

Hey saintdorothea,
Go to Insert | Web Component. Scroll down and select Advanced Controls, and then select ActiveX Control. Press the Next button. Click the Customize button, scroll all the way down, and select "Windows Media Player."
You should be back at the same list you saw a few seconds ago. Scroll all the way down and select Windows Media Player and press Finish. You will see a Windows Media player object visible in FrontPage. You can right click on the object, select ActiveX Control Properties, and customize the object to your liking.
Cheers!

I used this before, but I don't think that there is a way of preventing a download of that file though.

Oh in that case, there is no real good way of doing that then. Any method of preventing files from getting downloaded can be overcome by anybody interested in getting the files. There are few programs that can even download from those streaming only servers linked in ASF and RAM files.
Have you used Flash before?
Cheers!

This is insulting to me... Well not really, but I said in my previous thread that I was considering just putting the songs in an .swf file.
The question is Kirupa, have youused Flash before? I think you should try it. Also if you get good at it you can make tutorials for it on your website.
Ok I'm just being stupid.:eye:

I had a go at this with a small video file. All I did was insert/file, then browsed to the movie. This seemed to work ok.

First of all, I'm not even 17 yet. Second, I know Kirupa is smart and helpful but he's not some god, and you could easily tell that what I wrote was a joke. My older bro does not have dirty mags. I assure you if he did, I would have more dignity than to look at things like that.
