I was bored so I drew this guy within a few short minutes using my Wacom. And I'm bored now so I'm posting it up here for crits and comments.

Thanks! :)

It's definitely very dark, and while the face and head are well done and easy to understand, the rest of the body seems kind of small, out of proportion, and very hastily done.

Yea, It seems very hastily done. It's not baAd, cause you got the arms and legs on the right spots, but I think you know where I'm coming from. It's not much to give a serious critique really..

Nice scribble?

Nice scribble?

Lol yeah that's basically it! :P I did say that I spent only a few minutes on it while I was bored. Anyway thanks for the crits, I agree with Esherido about the head - it's my favourite part of him! :)

The harsh crit: It's not very good, even if it was done in a few minutes, and here's why:

1. Drawing red on black doesn't add anything to the drawing, it makes me more aware that you're trying to hide the lack of other qualities.
2. The angle is extremely boring, which reveals nothing and makes the composition dull.
3. The brush strokes seem uncertain (multiple strokes to form one line is usually always bad)

How to improve this? If you want to draw people, you should go to some act drawing or croquis or whatever you call it - you'll be amazed over how quick your overall drawing skills improve.
I understand that it was a quickie, but you asked for crits and you got it

Fair enough. Yeah I know now that the red on black wasn't a very good idea, for one it's too dark... but I didn't choose those colours so that I could "hide the lack of other qualities". I just felt like it.... you know? Sometimes you just can't explain things, you just do what you feel, (and in my case it turned out a bit crappy :P)

Yeah the angle is boring but it is to reflect this guys loneliness and boredom (oh and I feel most comfortable drawing people at this angle )

And you're right, the brush strokes are uncertain... I ddn't have a clue what I was drawing until I finished... at first his hat started out as an upsidedown frying pan. lol. Thanks for the crit man, points taken! ;)

Work with the line of action too. An "s" curve would make the pose nice and dynamic.

I'll see what I can do with this "scribble" once I get some time... exams are approaching for me now. :( I hate exams. Thanks for the crits!
