dude, it's just like you're saying
"i made the layout could you design it for me:P"
haha, j/k dude, go for a sans-serif font to match the rounded edges;)
Pasquale

Serifs can still look hot with rounded edges, but this isn't really a layout. It's just some rounded boxes arranged in different places with different colours.

If you're going to have lots of text, make it around 12px Arial and set anti-aliasing to off.
Don't be scared of pixel fonts, you REALLY don't want blurry text. It could make a wonderful site look very unprofessional.

Pixelfonts for lots of type is a sin.

You can't go wrong with verdana or arial.

Hardcore typographers seem to have a problem with Arial... I think Verdana is generally considered "better".
That said, I have definitely used Arial a fair amount....

Remember guys this kid is literally 13 or something so he needs sound advice and may not get the 'Comic Sans' joke.
Aside from that its pretty funny when you see sites that use it.

Do you know what each of those boxes are for? If not, a wise step would be to come up with at least a general idea of what content would be used and how it's going to be presented, before even starting to code.
Also, being a designer myself, it's hard not to just jump into PS and play around. It's good to get some inspiration, but before that get a good idea on paper on what some content would be, so when you're messing around, you have _something_ to work with. Now once you're playing around, you may get some good ideas - now go through those and do some wireframes on paper. Sketch, doodle, be creative. Then go back to PS fresh, with a goal. Once you have a design, THEN start coding.
I think you've jumped the gun. Now if this is just for practice, great. Then don't worry about this, just keep it in mind for next time. But you need to know that what you have up is nothing really to crit. It's like saying your song is in the key of C, and playing the C scale. Sure it makes a sound, but there's nothing really there.
I would assume you're just starting out and are (apparently) young. Great, keep up the good work. You've got a great head start, so just have fun, get inspired, and be creative.

Hey Jeff, you really should stop posting so much one after the other... Like your last two are only a minute or so apart from each other. It looks like your just spamming. Try and say all you want in one post then if a large amount of time has past and you need to say something else you can.

Four coloured boxes, floated to fit, is pretty hard to give a rating.(-: Why not go away, populate your design with some content and imagery, and then re-post.

I have an exercise for you. Go find a website that you personally like, one that you visit for fun, education, whatever, and copy it. Rip it off wholesale. Don't steal the code, just steal the exact layout and whatnot, and populate it with your own content. Change the colors, change the content, but go steal something.
Once you've completed your stolen webpage, compare it to this pile of code that you're trying to pass off as a webpage, and try to figure out what exactly is different between the two. :)
Once you've figured out the differences, go ahead and make a new version of this page, make it original, and use what you've learned from the ordeal. I don't expect that you'll do this all, but if you were to I guarantee you'd come out knowing a lot more. :|

^^ aaaa, nopes... i think you're taking it too fast... slow down a bit, read some articles on grafic design, on color theory and start fooling around only after... i know that you are way too young and that has lot to do with your way of seeing things ( especially at this age ). That's why it's best to start with the basics... read and learn about design in general, i hope you like history... read some articles look at magazines or whatever... but don't jump into this whole "web design" thingie without knowing the basics...
you still need to "develop" that artistic eye, you're way too young... start the whole process all over again and as i said, start with learning the basics...
Good luck kiddo ;)

I agree with Anogar man...
Go find some imagery to stick into this piece.
In fact. You have something here already that probably wouldn't be too bad if the right scheme was chosen. I don't personally find text offensive all over a site, but i think you might help users find your content in this sea of words better, if you could include some iconographic idioms to suggest which types of content are being displayed... like latest comics could have a snappy little 3D book cracked open doobrie... news could have a newspaper icon...
Also.
The spacing between all of your boxes is too flaky. the corners are a bit too chunky for my liking.
Why not have a crack of taking those generally nasty colours out, and simplifying slightly. maybe check out some drop shadows for delimiting your content.
Your text isn't padded/margined correctly, so even though the design is simple, it looks all mashed up.
RIP SOME CONTENT QUICKLY....:smirk2:

So what is the reason for this site?
jeffonfire

WOW a lot of things ok i will start working on it.
The reason for the site is the give information and to encourage kids to be creative and to follow god.

Well I hope your next project goes as well as this one jeff.
Incidentally, if you could keep the religion inside of you, as I'm sure the rest of us (maybe just me) are waiting for the day when the human race can join together in one big pile of love for one another and our own achievement in space travel without the bigotry and self loathing that 'organised' religion has brought to this solar system over the last 4-10 thousand years.
Lets all enjoy a pepsi in orbit around jupiter together some day...!!! :thumb2:
good luck with your coloured, rounded boxes. :D

Actually they almost did that once at Babel. They thought they could get to heaven without God. But then God changed the peoples langwige and they stopped working and started to yell at each other and made a big mess!
There is actual historical evidence for this!
