Credit Card Validation

I've got a friend who wants to create a website to run credit card transactions for his business. I was wondering if anyone here could lead me to some helpful information about how I'd go about creating a validation system....I'm not even sure where to start...any help would be appreciated. Use Paypal checkout system :D People will know its trust worthy, also if you were to make your you would need access to check the credit card database and that cost muhla-

totally agree. use a trustworthy third party checkout system instead if it's only a small e-commerce site. there is a whole host of security concerns if you want to handle card transactions on your own. visit other e-commerce sites and see what checkout systems they use.

I think Zen carts uses Paypal too.

Yes, and don't pay on your site, have it go to the paypal (or other 3rd party site for checkout). Otherwise you need to pay for an SSL, which costs like $170, ontop of the domain costs, the time to get it set up, and the paypal pro costs (~$20 a month) which easily brings you costs over $400 a year.

I can recommend WorldPay too - it's not as cheap as PayPal, but it's more suited to businesses wanting to use an online payment system as it's allows you to edit the css and upload your logos for their ssl encrypted pages - you can make it look like the user never left your site..
