MTV just launched a new HTML site, having worked with Dan Cederholm (http://simplebits.com), my favorite designer.

I love the random backgrounds … they’re a great addition. Overall, the new site is great. The backgrounds come from the MTV Hats (http://www.mtvhats.com/) project (more info (http://www.mtvlabs.tv/2007/04/mtv-hats.html)), and there’s a blog post about the redesign (http://www.mtvlabs.tv/2007/04/new-html-mtvcom.html), too.

the canadian site hasn't changed....i still like the colours on the candian site, and it still asks me to install activeX since i am using firefox...lol.

the american site sucks. I don't like it, why? well, i don't like the washed out blue in the bg, the mario style graphics was a failed attempt at making the site appeal more to younger audiences....just looks messy overall, no flare, nothing new there, same crap.

i just noticed that the bg changes when you refresh the page...i still don't like the mario-esque one and the christmas tree styled one (green bg)...but the others are really nice, still think the layout is boring and not worth the 'redesign' and they don't make me want to click them frankly...the whole site aside from the few nice backgrounds is bland imo.

While I highly respect Dan Cederholm and his skill, I think FI's version was much better, a lot less like a well designed myspace page, more innovative and possibly better suited for a company like MTV who 'think' they are cutting edge media providers. This is complete waste of effort IMO.

never liked the mtv layouts, they are are so filled up without air :fight:
