OK...here's the deal...I have a customer who wants me to take this image...

http://smartnetnyc.com/sites/ANA/ball_02.jpg

...and make it 3D...in flash...moving like a disco ball. I'm at a loss here...the only thing that came to my mind was to recreate it in X amount of positions and tween it...but that will take forever and a day. Is there a 3D program that I can recreate this object in?

Any input would help at this point. Thanks all

Joe

try to get your hands on swift3d. You can create the object in there(or any other 3d app and import it) then animate it in swift3d (im pretty sure there is a pre-set for rotate in X, Y or Z axes) then just export that to flash(swf). Import that into your flash doc and you should have X amount of keyframes(depends on how long you did the animation) of your object rotating :)

otherwise try illustrator (3d extrude) and export into flash OR get friendly with keyframe animation ;)

Swift would definitely be the best option. It supports a vector output for flash so you should have no probs importing it in for use!

swift 3d dude:D
there are also swift 3d plugins for exporting those things into swfs from 3dsmax or lightwave;)

I MIGHT be able to have a whack at it. I could pop it out in .obj format so you can take it into swift to vector or something.

Just gotta work out a nice way to make it uniform, but yeah if you can't figure it out and I got some time I might try the job.
