herrow,

I have some suggestions, or thoughts of mine. The whole site gives me an awkward feeling when aligned like that. I think it'll look better in the center. Now it's got all this blank space. Also, your navigation seems odd. Some text over here and some over there. You should keep it in a straight line or something:)

That's my thoughts for now. And thumbs up on the pictures, some are really nice:thumb:

I ditto the comments above ....just some small things really, I think you should maybe use an initial photograph to engage the user. I adore this style of photography and completely forgot about the site when I started lookin gat your work! Let that do the talking :)

Yeah I agree with the other comments already mentioned here. Another thing that I don't like is the two coloured sections - light grey and dark grey, it just makes it seem awkward... as if something's missing.

looks heavily influenced by Group 94's style, but thats not neccessarily a bad thing. I don't like how empty that big grey box is on the right though....

Why are you using a flash embed method that makes you click to activate? The navigation is wierd.

I like the logotype, what is it?

I like the left aligned with the dark box layout. The rest of the visual elements are a bit lacking though. The menu is very strange. I think the site is too lacking of content for me to be able to see where it is really going.

the typeface is kontrapunkt.

I agree with all comments above and I have some suggestions:
you can justify text, when it opens frode helland:photography: and the menu

42166

when the photos appear they don't fade, you can add some fading.

I'm not a designer by any means, but I'm not a fan of the gallery on the site. Maybe add mini thumbnails on the side. I mean the way you have it now the user has to click through all of the photos. Maybe make a box on the right side where all the thumbnails are at so the user can click through them. Might give some more organization to it.

Another thing I found is a little cliche in a lot of sites is the micro font used in the navigation bar. Spice it up maybe with some image buttons?

Another thing is your use of solid colors. You have images in your gallery. Why limit the images to the gallery?

Good start :)

Left aligned designs are not bad, but for something like that, a centered design would allow for a bigger visual impact when viewing the photos (so the viewer can focus upon the overall composition rather than the placement).

I like the type choice on the navigation, but dont think the "splash"/title text looks right.

Why not try some big chunky georgia?

:)

The gallery wont load for me, but in general the simplicity of the design works well!

I that alot now!

Have you tried making the white extend from the bottom of the flash so that the page is broken into what lookes like three columns?

I intended to try that to, but had to go to bed before I figured out the css:) By the way: I know it's just a few pixels to large for a small laptop screen. Any ideas on how I can avoid that?

Hey,

I'm far from an expert. The site looks pretty good. I agree with most of the other suggestions. NOt sure if someone said this already, I didn't read every comment, but the progress info between each photo, is that really needed? I love the pics, but that became a little irritating. And I'm looking at this @ 1280x1024 , so it looks really small and kind of weird. But I really think you are off to a good start.
