View Full Version : my little warrior (3d max)

Thought I'd post my little warrior. I'd gone through 2 ideas previously, but I'm pretty happy with this one so far. He's a low poly model for a competition. Currently at 3068 polys and still untextured. I'm hoping to have him textured by next week and then I'll re-work the saddle for his polar bear steed. It'll look a bit wierd, but it is a fantasy theme so I think I can get away with it.;)

He'll have some spears/javelins in his armoury. I'm still not 100% on the shield, I think he'll end up have some protective armour like medievil lancers wear. This is the latest on the texturing, I've still got a lot of modifcations to do, but its getting there.
mungle... lol!

the skin was sampled from several turtle photos... the eye needs a bit more work and I have to do alot of blending.
It must be his fish look that has everyone saying they want to dress him up in kitchenware.
It's low poly for a comp - rider and steed have to come under 7000 polys and 2 1024x1024 texture maps. Maybe I'll up the poly count for more detail later, but it might be easier to just re-model it. Gonna work on a few more robot ideas after this fella is finished.

I'm an IT support consultant, but I'm looking at getting into 3d game design. I'm applying for positions this year. Gonna need alot of luck to get in though.

He's ready for his weapons now. I've pretty much finished the texturing and rigged him with a skeleton for animation and posing. Still got heaps of poly's to play with for the saddle (about 1500 - 2000) so I might make the weapons and saddle a little more extravagant. Shame to waste the polys.

hey ironi, are you using sub-objects mat's or unwrapping the object and then applying a full skin to it?
ironikart
June 16th, 2003, 05:58 PM
sub object materials. I've attempted unwrapping stuff before and failed... I'd mostly unwrap objects that aren't so complex.

I can animate the warrior quite easily now he's all rigged, but the polar bear is another challenge all together. I've never rigged anything 4 legged before. Plus - no where to post a final animation!

web address? my homepage is here (http://www.hotkey.com.au/~noody/) but I haven't finished my site yet. The program is 3d studio max 4 with brazil 1.0

yah... I renamed the images without Caps. Forgot to change the links. The site sucks anyway and I don't really advertise it. I've been meaning to get in and do a proper one, but just never seem to get the chance.
