Nice work, I like the slightly retro feel to his head.

I had to look at the image a few times before I understood the jokes...lmao.

Not sure if the idea is photo realism, but it is not quite there. Maybe add a few negative lights to bring out some areas? Got a wire and light setup view?

Thnx for all of your comments, about this photo realism question, nope...I'm not really aimming on that. This is one of my assignment for my advance animation course and I felt I want to render into an A3 poster. Making it totally photo realism take way too long to render and to make(still have other crappy university assignments to do:wasted:, and this is my very first animation done in Maya), too. But...I'll try to get as real as possible, let say...semi-realism.

Negative lights...hmmm do you mean backlights?, I'm still pretty new to the 3D area. Well, there is over 80 lights in this scene....lol...meh, is just the fake GI. I still can't handle the GI well enough atm.

Animation comming soon around June~July. Still much to be done tho...

:D Yay....one more people appreciate my thingy.

Deviant art is getting weird for me, when I type in the keyword to search some of my works, it doesn't show up any of them. I'm quite sure I've insert some words in the keyword section when I post it.

Transformers.. xD

I'd be pretty disturbed if it transformed whilst i was preforming my natural actions upon it. o_o;;

Great work! ^^

may be called backlights in maya, but it is basically a light that has a negative intensity which darkens a area. I can tell you are trying to fake GI. Using the spinning light rig? SOme of your bounce lights are washing out some areas. Its a pretty good scene tho. Maybe do one with a couple of area lights and crank up the GI (radiosity and bounces). Might choke your computer but I think that scene is worth it.

Ah...gotcha what ya means, that's not backlight. In fact most of the terms are the same in all of the 3D program.

Sigh~the GI is still the biggest problem for me, GI in maya is not like max, all you need to do is just to click the options and set a few light intensity, in Maya...no...I have to set every lights how the photons is emitted and the photon's intensity(not too sur about max tho). Tried and seriously failed couple of times. Still, I have found a couple of tutorials already just need to finish them off before I really do something big.

Btw...this is the assignment for advance animation, there is limited time I can play around and rendering time is a big issue, thats why I've picked fake GI since is easier to control and faster to render. :puzzle:I know is a lame excuse for not changing it right now but I'll do it after I've finish my semester.;)

Anyway...ur advice is helpful, I like constructive critique....thnxs alot:azn:

Sweet dude. I was going to say that renderman, mentalray or vray would have been nicer for some caustics but since it's for animation - don't worry.

The render is pretty clean and it doesn't get lost in the bg :)

Aww...it is mental rayed :(...*kick...lol, but I didn't turn on GI, caustics and final gather, but for this poster, I've did a bit of hdri and some fake GI which did a pretty good job, too...and reduce the rendering time.

I hope I can have dual quadcore cpu for my computer...
