So I thought it was probably about time I posted something in here.

This is a little toy I've been working on (mainly when I should have been doing other things). Something to help me practice some of the features of Flash that I don't get to use that often. It's far from complete but I want to get an idea of user experience and ease of use. I've put together a short help guide for part of it, but it needs some work.

Anyway, see what you think. Use the buttons on the menu at the bottom to change the appearance of the grid. Once you're comfortable with that, try the custom option. You can get some really nice effects by making your own tiles. And different images can produce very different effects.

*There's no option to enter a url for an image at the moment, so you have to upload them.

Cheers, I'm glad it worked, I've been having problems with the upload part. Was it fairly straight forward to follow?

Sure, I used the flash fileReference class and a php file to handle the uploads. There's some simple validation on the php side when uploading a tile to make sure its 15px by 15px (or less).

Yeah the upload worked fine and it was easy enough to follow. :)

Looking good! That would be cool to add is some sliders to affect the way the objects move. I made something pretty similar to yours some time back, without the pretty design and the extra widgets and features though, but it does have some sliders that you could integrate into yours.

Anyhow. Check that out for an idea on what I'm rambling about. :)

^^ crazy friction

what you could too also do is taking up any image
and splitting it into peaces and then do effect over it
maybe I would do it these days ;)

Really nice work. Good job.

I also like the font you used to write "motionGrid". Do you mind telling me what it is? :stunned:

Cheers for all the positive comments everyone.

Annogar - that's exactly what my next move is, although I hadn't thought about doing it with a slider so I'll probably give that a go.

The main thing I want to get done is the ability to set your own size to the grid. At the moment it's purposefully small because it starts using a lot of resources as the grid gets bigger; but I'm developing a feature where you can set the size of the grid to get maximum performance.

It already does! Check the custom image feature

I wonder how soon will he have a post in any thread here?

No, my PA does that, then sends me a fax letting me know I need to reply.
