A dialog box pops up asking you to set the dimensions of the image, and the object then appears as a rendered image in a standard Photoshop canvas.

I'm really excited for the release of CS3.

Obviously the tasty 3d goodies will be an added bonus and plus. Can't wait to play around and see what it's fully capable of.

I personally think though that the new toys released with CS3 (besides the 3d apps) is just like previous versions of photoshop, however techniques and ideas are more easily available to most users.

For example, the new plaining/perspective tool. One (if they knew how) could achieve this without this new tool, however with the new tool it will become easily available for users who otherwise wouldn't know how to do it. (the cd jacket/sleeve video)

Or the align layers tool. Watched the video on this one. Looks pretty cool, however, same results could be acheived with a layer mask.

Obviously we'll get a better grasp on what it's capable of when it's released, but my first glances (besides the new exciting 3d apps have I mentioned this already? :) ) is that it takes tools and ideas already doable, and makes em "easier" for the not-so-novice p.shop users.

What about the dotted line tool

I'm really expecting something out of CS3 but I'm afraid it's not going to be quite it (why do 3d when your strength is in 2d ?). This might be because I'm disappointed with the new After Effects features.

Then again, I think scripting is going to improve a great deal which simply rocks !

What kind of weirdo is gonna object to tools that make your job quicker? Sure, you could do anything with Photoshop 7, but new features make things faster.

It doesnt do 3d rather renders and such...I can see an immediate need for it. AS well as the need for:

What about the dotted line tool

I have seriously been asking for this for a while...I think someone at Adobe hates me.

here is one of my old rants from 03....when Rev was still here.
