I am just curious, if anyone has heard anythign of what is to happen with SVG? I really wished it would have caught on but seems it hasnt and wont. But I have a project that would be perfect for it. But it seems if Adobe.com has just kinda let the technology go. Anyone have any insider info *cough*Sen*cough*

If I knew anything, I probably couldnt say, but I will mention that not many people seem to care about SVG around here anymore.

If maybe Adobe developed their Flash players to be able to parse SVG? Cause the current SVG player sucks diddly balls. Takes as long as Java to load. It is a really sweet concept but the execution killed it.

bah, I guess I will let this dream go, along with photoshop getting a dotted line tool. Sen mention that to them as well. I have actually been to the Adobe HQ to request that.

I know you can make a dotted line using the paint brush.

I sure hope they keep supporting SVG! They love SVGs and PS files out here in the science community. A lot of these guys out here would be beside themselves.

I imagine they'll leave the ability for their programs to read and write to SVG, I've seen posts to the effect that they're not ever going to update the reader though.

SVG has its uses, but its slow, especially for the web. Take google, for example, they started using SVG for their analytics charts etc, but quickly went to Flash. The SVG versions were clunky and not very fun.

I guess you do have a point that flash essentially does with SVG does and doesnt do. But it was such a cool technology. i did a slick company directory with it a long time ago. I guess I am starting to show my age now. I'll shut up now.

A lot of scientific apps that do data output from satellites, laser scanners and underwater instruments put their data out either as SVG or post script. Yah, they are huge and clunky.
