This is the beginning of our companies site. There is no content yet. My Flash work will begin soon. What do the fellow Kirupians think about the layout? P.S. no preloader yet either. (sorry) All that will come later.

Hmm...well there isn't much to critique on yet, but so far, the only thing that looks good are the buttons even though they're a bit large.

I suggest reducing the buttons a lil bit and cleaning up the header graphic or maybe creating a better one that will match your layout more.

Also why does a rectangle outline appear around the button text when I rollover then? If that's your rollOver effect then I suggest using something a bit more noticable.

Also you have some nice buttons, but is that white box the rest of the layout? Shouldn't the layout match the buttons as well? Your buttons have dimension to it, but the rest of the layout is flat.

Thanks EG... The "content box" will have the same depth/look
as the buttons. I also noticed that the header looked ALOT better before I posted it... I'm not sure what happened. What do you think about the actual positioning of the buttons? I was kind of timid about that. My customers will have to have a VERY simple navigation. I still have ALOT to do... So, do you think the header is too traditional looking, sloppy, or what?
Oh yea, I hope you have no hard feelings about the font thing on bed and breakfast... You gotta know that I think you are a superb artist. I respect your work and opinions.
I will get to work soon...
Check back this evening for an update...

No hard feelings at all, we both have opinions and I'm glad you voiced them out.

As for your header, honestly I would get rid of it or reduce the height of it since there's no real function for it. Also a better graphic used would be nice as well because the current one doesn't seem to flow with the feel of your site.

As for you buttons, I would place them in one long row instead of 2 rows stacked on top of each other.

That's good to hear...
I am planning on adding a small simple animation to the header.
I will clean it up as I go and make it match better.
Good idea about the buttons in one row. I just try to do things different than your average site. Sometimes I go overboard.
Thanks for the input... Update coming soon....:beam:

ditto what EG said. buttons sort of large and header takes up a lot of valuable screen real estate

but the layout is good and it's clear what you do and easy to see samples of your work, so very effective

Real Estate...hmmm... I like that term.

nice improvement from the last time, I can see you went with some of the suggestions.

What I suggest now is getting rid of the top margin so that your header is flush against the top of the browser window.

the buttons look a lot better now that they're in one row. i'm not so sure about the simple, color rollover...maybe do a little something more to the rollover. the rollover you have isn't bad or anything, but it could easily be done w/o flash.

also, the spacing isn't the same in between all your buttons!

I was getting customer complaints about the buttons being too "small"
So, I here's what I came up with

I would not use that font as body copy- even for the underconstruction messages, etc. that you are now. It's fine for the buttons & header but gets too hard to read.

looking good - I really like the header. You might want to think about some formatting for your text as well instead of just centering it- MUCH easier to read though. Nice work!

nice job man... I would say that all of the "click here"s for you work is a little redundane. Just create some thumbnails or links directly to your work within sections. that should clean it up a bit.

sweet.

nice job...

i think you should get rid of all the "click here" links for your work, and just include some thumbnails or direct links... it would look cleaner

I made a few changes...
Is upload time long?
I wouldn't know...I have a really fast connection.
Do I need a preloader?
Keep in mind that the content will be "flashed up" asap
Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks !!

Why does the entire layout in the middle on the first page then jumps to the top after something is clicked? It just seems odd to me, I would have it stay at the top.

Also I wouldn't set the height and width of your layout to 100% because what if a viewer is using a comp with a really high resolution? It would stretch out and pixelate your layout. I'm not sure if it's vector or not, but if it's all vector then it's fine.

ditto to what electrongeek just said + it looks like you need to set your topmargin="0" and leftmargin="0" in your body tag.

1- Would be cool to have a different color for each button when hovered over..

2- I dont really like the way you did your chrome title...looks a bit jaggy you can try one of my chrome tutorials http://www.idigitalemotion.com/tutorials/tutorials.html

3-Would be cool to have your top pic edges kinda faded in the background

Good luck!

Great suggestions everybody !
E.D.E >> your site is definately a bookmark... thanks!

FYI... All images are vector.
BUT I still think I will edit the body tags as suggested.

By the way, I don't really like the title text either... I was just "eyecandying" around.....
:nerd:

Thanks all !
