wouldnt u just plug the phone line into the modem, and use some funky programs. Have a scout around download.com

*puts away banning stick*
I'd be careful downloading anything from download.com. A lot of their stuff is tainted with spyware.
I'm not sure what you want to do. Do you want to be able to answer your phone through your computer or just have the phone notify you that someone's calling?

Banning stick? Isn't it more like a Club - A Cudgel, or a Shillealeigh, perhaps?

^^ That happens around here sometimes, ill be happily on the phone when suddenly I hear angry old people (my neighbour is a 300 year old grey dragon) so im like WTF?!?!?! But my friend hears it REALLY faint, so it was like weird and then I thought just wait a sec, then I redialled my friend and it was fine.

As in you want to be able to dial your computer from another modem when dialling your home phone?
You would plug the modem in, set and in coming connection and rout it to the port modem.

why not use skype, get a phone number from it (i think £5 a month) and use that as youre primary phone

From what I understand:
- Call comes in
- Computer receives it and tells you who's calling
- Then you can choose to redirect it to your phones, or leave it...
Right?

Nonono, like this:
- Call goes out
- Stalker's PC intercepts it and records it
- Then you choose to butt in on the conversation in your creepy stalker voice or not.

at my high school, my mum just used to email the office if i was sick, and not comin to school that day. Sooo, technically i could of just faked an email from mum to the office, but sometimes they would call just to check, so i was never willing to take the risk.

Im sure it is possible. I think it would breally handy to have the functions of a phone on a machine, so you can have a groovy headset mic all hooked up.
It would be so sexy.
