Okay, so I've come up with this idea for a slightly "different" birthday card. I register a domain - www.happybirthday<person>.com - and then send them a cool little card that just has the domain name on it.

The thing is... Thats where my creativity ends :lol:

What should I have on the mini-website? Any ideas??
One thing I do want to do is have it so the web-page is only viewable ONCE. At the beginning, I'd have a warning saying that it will selfdestruct after being played... and ya...

Also, I want to register the domain from some cheap US company like GoDaddy or something, but have it pointing to my existing hosting. How would I go about doing this? Just register the domain... and then...? Do they usually have a facility to 'point' the domain to wherever you like?

My first domain name was a redirect to free hosting by Brinkster. Typically, they'll give you an option of having it be a redirect, so it's pretty easy.

I'm not sure what to put on it.

Maybe a short flash video of them doing crazy/wacky shenanigans. I don't know. Maybe have a mini-game of them superimposing their own face onto animals/models/robots/farm tractors.

As a matter of fact, you just gave me an idea. Which shant be shared, but thanks!

Domain forwarding? Is that it? I'm not sure.

Anyway, on the minisite have lots of photos and pictures presented nicely. Maybe you could have it on things that make that person awesomely cool? Like a cheesy 'this is your life'! Their favourite song lyrics, etc. Gee whiz, those are some lovely pants you have on today.

I like the sound of self-destructing websites too.

you'd register a domain for one use only?
nice idea, but not sure if it will expire in a day or two;)
