I've been having some bad thought latly. My parents ordered Vista Upgrade for Windows MCE (Media Centre Edition) and I am achually using Windows XP. Would Vista still work if I didn't have Windows MCE...

Basicly I want to know if:
Vista upgrade for MCE would work on XP?

THANKS!!

isn't MCE just XP (but for laptops/and to the lesser and horrible thought... tablets). Its just an edition of XP I believe.

Can you give a link to what you ordered? I was under the impression that there was only one previous “upgradeable from” version, and that all versions of Vista’s upgrade would work from there.

Unfortunatly I cannot remember the link. But the guy a PC worl gave us the link to get it cheaper (£25- £30 i think) because we brought a new PC before Vista was released.

So, Templarian. Your saying that there is a 99.9% it would work on XP? (maybe 85%?)

I'm 95% confident that the mean probability that I'm correct is between 50% and 80% interval.

if i wanted to go on i'd say your random and not normal so take it into consideration when looking over my findings. its not funny if you don't know statistics...

just run the upgraade twice- once in trial mode, and then on the second, install it with rego and the key :)

^ That's exactly what I did, saved me 140 bucks too! Can't lift a finger at that.

It will work without a doubt, I upgraded from MCE to Vista Home Premium :)

(I actually bought upgrade then did a clean install using one of those workarounds that I posted in an earlier thread that I made, but I know upgrade works too because I first upgraded then clean installed.. thats part of the workaround)

congrats, but I really don't get the need to upgrade right now.... Honestly, what would I gain from upgrading to Vista?

I might disable UAC when its installed. I just dont like it that I need something to 'control' what I do.
