Pixel Art

I am starting to make pixel art in Macromedia Fireworks MX. Whenever I try to expand it, it get's blurry. How do you set it so that the pixels are prevailent?

i dont think you shuold make it bigger. i aleways draw it to the size you want.

I just found out Microsoft Paint is a lot better for pixel drawing than Fireworks. You can easily erase with the right click. Also you can expand without blurring.

hmm, I dont know about Fireworks, but you can resize stuff in Paint Shop Pro and select "Nearest Neighbour" to keep the image clean. The best way is have two windows open - one zoomed in so you can work on it, and another at 100% zoom so you can see how it will look when finished.

Yeah MS Paint is the |33t pixel art proggie. and time consuming is the whole point of pixel art lol.

I dunno about how to do such things in fireworks, but in Photoshop if you want to make a piece of pixel art bigger, I typically just zoom in on the image a little, then alt+print screen, and paste into a new document

But seriously how can you make a pixel bigger? a pixel is a pixel so you can't really make pixel art any bigger than the original thing. MS paint is the best and stay well away from any vector based programs when it comes to pixelating.

use Paint Shop - resize to 200% with Nearest Neighbour selected that should work like a charm (I assume you can do the same thing in Photoshop... though I doubt the awesome powahs of MS PAint stretch that far ;))
