What are your thoughts on this layout...

First immediate thought is to get rid of the silhouettes behind her ... sorry don't have time to look at it much when I'm at work.

nice, you figured out the grunge borders :D

I agree with boon, but other than that I can't see anything that needs immediate surgery :D

what kind of music does she do? from the design of the site, she could play country, rock, hell she could be a hip-hop artist from what i saw, you need to make it more personal so that it doesn't look like a generic template.

The shadows will likely be gone, the header will actually be flash and I was thinking ahead to some transitions. Rest of the site will be xhtml/css.

Josh, any suggestions. I did mention in my first post it is mostly of the rock genre. I thought the grunge style would help fit that theme.

Looks great. But I'm getting a generic feel for the site. It needs a little somethin' somethin' to set it apart from the average site. Apart from that I really like it and don't see anything that needs to be fixed.

lose the shadows on the header. i'm not sure if the white bar on the nav is a search bar, so either add a button or text. maybe, add drop shadows below the pics on the articles.

Ok, just for fun I tried adding some drums and a guitar to the bottom. Too much?

The header still feels really really empty...

If anything I wouldnt be focusing on ways to jazz up the bottom area.. rather, the entire header needs more, especially if you are ditching the numerous silhouettes.
