Possible to combine gallery and ticker?

Hi everyone.

I am trying to combine the following 2 tutorials:

and

http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx2004/newsticker.htm

Basically, I want to put the photo (large) behind, with the ticker layered over top. Ideally they would cycle at different speeds (the photos would only change once per 2 or 3 ticker messages).

Any thoughts on how to accomplish this? I am a relative newbie to Flash.

Hi everyone.

Okay, so what I've done is created the slideshow and then created another layer and inserted my ticker in that layer. I have used the code in the 2 tutorials

It works, mostly. The loading is perfect: loads up my photo for the slideshow, and my first ticker item. But then it cycles through the photos, without cycling through the ticker. After it finished going through the photos once, it starts to cycle through the ticker. But I want it to cycle through both at once.

Is there any way to accomplish this?
