Heres a sunset image manipulation, the rocks are from different pictures but the man and the sky are all done by me, heres a preview, you can get a bigger version of it here (http://blog.digitalcarnival.com/2007/02/20/art-showcase-2-sunset-rocks/) or request new colours/sizes.

So without further delay, here it is:

Pretty clean. The first thing that jumped out to me was that the ambient light is kinda weird. With the strong red in the sky and being represented on the shadow side of the rock, I would assume this would be also on the sand which is getting more of the hot light. And the light source seems a bit oof a tad.

i don't have the trained eye that DDD has, so i didn't notice the sunlight on this side of the rock. looks cool to me. but not like a sunset, more like a giant meteor or nuclear bomb hit the ground there. either way, i think it's pretty nice.

The colors are too over-saturated man. It's a clean cut, but this can be made better if you tone down the colors a little bit, bring more color information into the scene and make it larger width-wise. A landscape view always helps such a picture utilize its full potential.

As for the lighting in there... The red gives a feel that the man is standing on a rock on mars and that little lens flare in there kinda conflicts it by suggesting there is an atmosphere. I dunno... The feel that you're trying to portray and the colors in there are really in conflict with each other.

Well originally it wasnt meant to be a sunset, it was going to go with my destruction (http://blog.digitalcarnival.com/2007/02/14/art-showcase-1/) image, and I will try and sort out the lighting, but I dont know how, should I make the san more red or what I dont quite get what youre saying DDD

Yeah what those guys said + your "sunset" background really doesn't look as crisp/photrealistic as the rocks do, which makes this obviously seem like a photo manip. Get the background looking photorealistic and sort out the lighting on the rocks (as the other's have mentioned). Otherwise it's a good start. For some reason it reminds me of the beginning to "2001: A Space Odyssey". lol.
