Some of the graphical elements in my movies are disappearing when published.
To demonstrate what I mean, here is a screenshot of the my stage:

And here is a screenshot of the same movie when previewed (via: Ctrl+Enter):

Which as you can see, appears as it should. However, when the movie is published, the orange circle disappears:

I am experiencing similar effects on other files. I really am at a loss to explain this; is it a bug, or am I missing something? Thanks for any information that can be shed on this.

My first thought is to suggest that it is because you have on of your layers set as "guide"... but it shows up in the preview.
One guess is to get you to check your publish settings.
Double check your layers to see if something isn't guided/masked.
What kind of element is it that is dissapearing? Movie Clip? graphic? Button? Jpg?
There is a chance that this is a library linkage situation.

Thanks for your response mr.geek.
Having re-checked my layers I can confirm that none of them are guides. The element that is disappearing is the top layer of a movie clip, which is the orange circle seen in the first two screen shots. This is a movieclip symbol. However, I have tried breaking the symbol and changing the layer order, to no effect.
So, still pretty stumped on this one!

need FLA to understand )
I see you work in Flash8.
But the player you have troubles with - is 7
May be you use strokes not supported by v7 ?
(In flash 8 you can draw different types of lines - with different caps and joins)

In a bizarre twist to my tale, the missing graphics have now reappeared.
I therefore conclude that this is "just one of those things."
Thanks for your help, nonetheless!

To follow up on MureJIb's suggestion, when you export the movie, do you get anything come up in your output window?

Most likely your player is not the current version and that will cause all kinds of graphic loading propblems, make sure you got the F8 player

Yes, that seems to have been the issue. Thanks all for your suggestions.

i agree, flash player version issue. I only know this because it came up for me this week - showing a friend my website on his computer, the hit counter didnt come up at all - turned out it had come up, but all it was showing was the orange background that matched the color of my website. what had happened was that he was running flash player 7, which doesnt support filters (i think), but my graphic was made in flash 8, and had a movie clip on a blank orange background, which used a drop shadow filter. But no filters in player 7, so the filter (and the movie clip) was gone, all that remained was the blank background.
