Anyone ever see a decent tutorial for PS that teaches how to create (from scratch) a puff of dust or powder (i.e. imagine taking a photo of someone throwing a spoon full of flour into the air)? I've seen plenty of smoke tuts but I'm talking heavier than smoke. anyway, any ideas? I'll settle for a pretty good set of "powder cloud" brushes if worse comes to worse. I just don't want to make them myself because I'll probably end up with a giant mess and a flour encrusted camera!

Oh yeah, and I've Googled "puff" "powder" "dust" "dust cloud" "flour" etc in all sorts of combinations and configurations coupled with "photoshop" and "tutorial", so please don't tell me to "search" or I may have to go after someone, ha! Believe me... I have.

I personally would do a matte painting technique for this....Search for "Photoshop matte painting fog" :P :thumb2: and you may find some techniques to do what you are after....

short of using photographs as reference to paint flour particles there's not much you can do without a compositing app or even a 3d app which sports a particle simulator
if you can find high speed photography stills of things blowing up they often look like powder.
i'd do it the old fashion way with a camera and a good flash

Yeah, good suggestions... my wife's gonna freak when she walks in kitchen and I'm slinging flour everywhere trying to get a good photo, haha. I'll try to avoid that scenario if I can.
It just seems like there'd at least be some sweet brushes out there that would have a similar idea. Such as a puff of dust or powder. I keep thinking about some sweet brushes I got from a Computer Arts mag that are of inky blobs under water. Something like that... but dust... but in the air... You know what I'm sayin?
