pop-ups through router

hey all, i recently noticed some computers sneaking onto my wireless router. i was wondering if there is anyway to send them some sort of pop-up message though windows or a broswer window.. their ip and mac's show up in the router gateway application.

I think you can do a netsend through the dos prompt if they are on your network. Do you have your security setup? I use the WEP128 bit on mine.

if you want to block random people from accessing your network, you should filter by MAC address and only allow your devices.

Just turn on keys, and its built into all devices. (if a key is needed a prompt will appear).

yeah, i had a setup with wep and they cracked it somehow. i patched it with the mac filter so hopefully they stay out now. thanks for the advice.

damn they cracked 128 bit encryption? The network password for mine is like 13digits long and really random.

it's not breaking the encryption probably. it's just bypassing it somehow. from what i hear, there are some relatively easy ways in linux. that's why i suggested mac filtering.

Set up a WPA/PSK2 128 bit encrytion, I made mine a word and put it throught a md5 to get my key so its Uber long, and also set up a mac filter.

I don't think anyone broke into your router by breaking your encryption. most likely you are getting pop-ups thru port 80

I once got popups through an extension cord, so yeah, it can happen.

I get so bored and geeky sometimes, that i know most of my WEP key off my heart

It's a conspiracy. I used to live in the city and one person would get cable and three of four other people would be using it. Especially in apartment complexes, most people have no clue about WEP or anything.
