could you help me find an ASP / ASP.NET localhost testing server.

I could do with something different to IIS

I think IIS is required to run ASP seeing as how it is a Microsoft product...

You can run asp on apache, but be prepared to bash your face into your keyboard for several hours before you get it to work.

ok, well. I took my old PC installed IIS on it. and its ok now.
