Also don't forget to add clouds. Your planet looks weird. It doesn't look like a shere. Also the pattern you used is kind of random, try using a swirl one or grain with a touch of noise. Also planets have a light source which include a dark side of the planet to give a cool effect which makes it look spherical. Then finally planets normally have some form of a gas atmosphere.

You should do the galaxy tutorial also.. i don't have a link for that one though. And you should add the Atmosphere to the planet to make it look nicer.
