Anyone uses a intranet/extranet service within their company?

What are some suggestions of either open source or service intranets/extranets.

My school uses an intranet...

In my opinion its just a 'doman' for a network... (what i think nyway)

It can be as simple as a machine running IIS on a network with an internal IP assigned.

IIS = Windows. I am sure Linux or whatever has something similar.

school uses one, but it's kinda insecure if you don't be careful;)
