transparency

Hi everybody.
I am having a problem with rollover buttons and IE6.
I made a rollover button( saved it as PNG format) with trasparent backround. It shows fine in IE7 but not in IE6. If i use gif format it doesn't look good at all. I am a photoshop beginer so i don't know how to tackle this problem. Can somebody tell me please what format would be appropriate to create a rollover text button with trasparent backround and one that works in all browsers?
Why this problem occurs anyway?

IE6 doesn't support transparent PNG's. Either you make it non-transparent, or you use this technique http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/alpha.html

actually, have this problem also for a long time now..before IE6 supports transparent PNG's but when the SP2 upgrade in IE6, the functionality of that transparent PNG's has been removed..i think a year ago or 2..that time i stop doing transparent PNG's and focus on how i can enhance the tranparency of the GIF's.. but MF supports Transparent PNG's works great.. :smirk:
