Hi all,
I know this is the section for website critiques etc (just before you get started on me...lol), but I thought it was the best place to post this question.

Just looking for advice. I have my web page, branding etc finished and have two urls in mind...The links don't take you anywhere so don't click them.

www.knetwerk.tv (http://www.knetwerk.tv)
www.knetwerk.com (http://www.knetwerk.com)

I know. I know. Why am I asking which one is better. You may say .com is always the best you dunce.
My thinking was that "network tv", or you might say "network television" is a catchy much used phrase even though it's spelt differently(I have my reasons).

It's a portfolio site of sorts with web designs, audio and video which kind of has a multimedia element, hence the "tv".

We all know how ".com" is easy to remember for the jo public, so that's why I may be inclined to go for that.

What do you think? It may seem trivial, but once the site is up and running, that's it.

I know you be totally blunt about this(which I appreciate) so thanks in advance!

This may sound sarcastic, but honestly the best option would be to buy both.
If you only wanted one, you should really go with ".com" for a couple of reasons:

1) To me, and maybe some other people, .tv looks kind of like a spam/porno site.
2) I'm sure not many people even know that .tv exists.
3) If another company buys the .com domain after you buy .tv, you'll loose a lot of viewers.
4) When you buy .com, you can just type "knetwerk" into the url and it will take directly to your site.

Yep, go for both and just have one redirect to the other (probably the .tv redirect to the .com). Domains aren't that expensive, so why not both?

And you should probably do it quick before some jerk comes and sees you're considering it + buys them out from under you.

Aaagghhh.
I wrote this name up a forum last month when there wasn't one knetwerk domain out there. I got the .tv but some git has bought the .com (yesterday).

will do!
fingers crosses they don't ask for too much.
Do you know how the buying of the domain works because I would rather go through a reputable company than buying it direct from the current owner.

Thx

Use paypal; that way you can file a complaint and get your money back if they try to screw you. The big registrars allow you to transfer them for free (I think), I know GoDaddy does.

yeah everyone hates cybersquatters! never post it on forums before you've bought it. the worst part is you've lost the .com domain. Do let us know how much the jerk demands.

Keepin you updated. No word back from them, so I'll leave it a few days or a week or two before I ask again.

While that's happening I'm going to try and think of another domain name.

I really want to keep the knetwerk thing and have already created the logo.
Can you think of any tag-ons for a knetwerk.com like, knetwerkstudio.com

It's a multidisciplinary portfolio site with articles, audio, flash apps, projects etc.

Thx

Well first of all ask them about selling it :D
A longer name = more suckage.

Very true.
I got a new domain name idea and I can keep my old design and refresh the logo. Do you want to know what it is?...no chance, not 'til I register it.

Still no reply from whoever they are.

Doesn't surprise me.

Can't you buy a .co.uk? (They tend to be cheaper on this side of the pond)

I suppose, but it's the ol' ,com I'm looking for.
All in all, if my web site sucks it won't matter, but you never know.

I don't know if these are taken but you could try:
k-netwerk.com
knetwork.com
knetwerks.com

Or any variations on them.

Tkns everyone for taking interest in my misery...which hasn't turned out too bad.
I've got a new domain name sorted, but have to register it, and a new logo which is a spin on my old one.

For anyone who wants a laugh, here's the email they sent me...
