Hey guys, I created this using an elliptical spiral movement and then combining it with another experiment. What do you think?

That is a nice effect.. I am going to look at the source. I am not very good at making flashy effects... lol =)

You based the size and speed of the events on the _x and _y positions of the mouse? :)
Well. I really, really like it! Thanks for sharing! :)

Just out of curiosity, where do you come up with the idea to create an effect with that kind of movement. Is it pure art, or was there actually a reason for doing so..

Shifty,
At first I was given a challenge to figure out how to make an elliptical movement in attempt to to replicate fish movements in water. Ya, so to answer your question, that's the idea I started with: trying to replicate fish movements in water.
After I figured that out, I decided to mess with it a little and create something wierd. I set the size of the particles relative to how close they are to the center point of the elliptical orbit they're following. As the radius decreases, so does their size.
I then created a spiraling elliptical orbit by decreasing the radius until it reached zero, and then increase the radius thereafter. That's why it looks like they go away, then come back.
Finally, I used a mouse trailer script I had lying around from a previous experiment. What's basically happening is two functions attempting to overwrite one another. It's quite bizarre.
Thanks guys for the feedback, maybe someone will find a use for it.

The initial file does convey an eerie effect to me...don't know why, but my first reaction was "spooky".
I quite liked the third out of that package in your subsequent post as well. (5rp0.swf)
