This is the first of a series of posters I'm working on for a church in France. I'm doing this for free. It's a radical design, quite different from usual church or institution designs. The logo of the church is an existing one and wasn't designed by me.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!

Here's a break-up of what the design portrays:

The light rays around the logo depict Jesus - giving light to the world
The different colors around the logo depict the different races of people in the world. Although there are so many colors in a rainbow, they all are part of ONE single rainbow - there is unity in diversity. Likewise, though we are different by skin color, we are all people of God.
The clouds, birds, trees and rainbow colored river show the different creations of God
If you notice, behind the logo you will find splatters of blood, depicting the sacrifice of Jesus for all our sins.

I like it. It gets your attention (though, I don't know if I would call it radical). Just remember, most of the people who view will never know what your intended symbolism was for each component. So don't get too caught up in giving everything a deep symbolic meaning. Don't get me wrong, you interpretation is good. But, for posters, first-impression design is what counts.
Overall, very nice. I look foward to seeing more in this series. Good luck!:thumb:

The text to the top right doesn't fit the perspective somehow; not entirely sure exactly how.

Also, the Bible's style doesn't fit the rest of it, it's too line-y.

I've made a few changes to the poster based on the feedback. Also, they didn't want EEMSO below the logo.

Please share your comments n critique.

splatters of blood, depicting the sacrifice of Jesus for all our sins

That's what I was thinking

Yeah. I understand the sentiment, but it still freaks me the **** out. Particularly coupled with the 'All are welcome' message.

It's too extreme to me, and I'm French (Canadian albeit).

k, didnt read that but in either case it really doesnt fit this style at all. you need to choose a direction. either you go in the serious direction or you go in the fun sunny sunday direction. the two just dont mesh currently

so your point is that I should play low on all the gore and create a more positive feeling, right? except for the blood splatters, what's your opinion on the rest of the image?

many thanks for the input guys!

the rest of it needs some reworking as well, even without the blood splatters. the white circle that holds their logo just seems awkward at this point, try to blend the two, and mess with the colors a bit (choose 2-4).

The final one in the series. I've not used the blood splatters here. It's got a more positive kinda feel. It's huge - measuring 4.9 x 1.1 meter (the actual print, that is). C&C please!

Many thanks!

Now we're talking.
Just make the people not feel like they were haphazardly thrown over image (integrate somehow; maybe some bands of the rainbow branch out around them or something).

It's much better, but one thing you may one to consider is that the rainbow is now pretty well identified with the gay pride movement. Maybe that's the point, in trying to capitalize on the 'all are welcome' kinda idea. You could even change it up by reordering the colors in the rainbow. Just a thought.

@ GW02 - that was some great input! thanx! I'll work on it.

@ BlueEyedMonster - oops! I didn't know that the rainbow was identified with the gay pride movement... silly me! Thanx a lot for pointing that out. I'll have to consult with the pastor about this symbolism and see what he has to say.

Keep 'em coming guys. Much appreciated!

^^ Heh. Yes, just remember to make you you have 'Safe search on' when you go google image searching for 'gay pride'.

Though that would be a whole other kind of symbolism.
