just wondering if anyone else thought this might be a benefit
adding an SQL/MySQL forum next to the server side/client side forums...
I notice the server side does get these types of questions fairly often and was just thinking maybe the server side forum would be easier to browse if these types of questions were elsewhere.
What do you think, good or bad idea? :ponder:

i think that currently PHP and MySQL are so integrated that dedicating a forum to SQL would just confuse people. unfortunately, many newbies have a difficult time differentiating what is a SQL problem vs. a PHP problem.
i would like for people to use [SQL]Here's the Title as the format for their thread topics.

this sounds like a good idea but I think it would be very hard to enforce. Like you say some newbies don't know they're dealing with a mySQL problem.
however I do think you're idea is better than mine and maybe easier to see through. So, can we ask that everyone in the server side forum now starts threads as such
[php], [mysql], [sql], [asp], [.net], [java] and so on

Currently I always put the software in [] in thread title that way only people who know will read BUT I think it would be better if the kMan made a mod for the forum so in SS and CS you could just select dropdown!

Yeah I like the idea of a forum hack to choose the programs. The question is, is there a premade hack on vb.org that does it.

I had this idea a very long time ago. A few people do put the [language] already but a drop down menu or something would be nice.

It's a great idea, and I'll install it in a few weeks when I have some time to make sure this mod doesn't interfere with any other mods installed :)
