combining 3 column CSS design w/ javascript?

I'm trying to redesign my portfolio site and I can only get so far as the three column CSS design. All I want to do is have a link from one colum make a site load in another column, but I can't figure out the code myself or find a template for it at the moment. Any suggestions?

Sounds like he wants to do the equivalent to Iframes, loading content into div's or columns as he puts it. The best way to do this is to go the AJAX or DHTML show hide divs. There are dozens of free scripts on the net for those.
