I've started a project at school which is going to end up as my new portfolio site. Im going to have it ready before christmas. Or that's atleast my plans:)
Before I throw myself into some huge project, I want to show you what I have so far, and hear your opinions on it. So I don't rush into something that's not worth it.

It's nothing big, and it contains no interesting content what so ever really, but I want your thoughts on the layout and how everything feels etc. Basicly I just want to know if it is something worth continuing.

So.. what remains now is some feedback. Go check it out HERE (http://www.medieklassen.com/%7Eoyvind/Version2/main.html)

and have a nice day:)

Lovely :D the transition between the pages is a bit too fast, seems to flicker between pages as opposed to fading in and out or any other type of effect...

Apart from that, I love the circular mask type effect you've got on the bottom images. And the rollover effects on the links :)

if you lose to me I say:
Looks sweet :P

thank you, both:)
but I won't lose to you pom!

And I will try to add some fading transitions. The reason why they "flicker" is that there is a prealoader there, but there is not much to load. So it only shows for a bit:)

I love it!

My only quibble is the font choice - it looks very plain and uninspired.

Very nice!

'll give you "teh n00b"!
So DDD, what's not "teh n00b"??
If Verdana is, I'll just have to get rid of it I guess:)

øyvind! great work. ps: dafont.com is a huge waste of time, you might wanna give these a go: www.ductype.com, www.fontsforflash.com, or search the web for some other pixel fonts.

It feels very small. And yea first thing i noticed was font. Try Georgia at least then it won't be so plain.

I don't mind the font at all ( unless you changed it today already)
The only thing is that the site doesn't have to be in flash and could be made in HTML

Other than that good job

^No haven't changed it yet. And I know it doesn't have to be flash, but I need to do it in flash you see. I got my teach to buy studio 8 for me and if I don't use it now, he would kill me:P haha

I think it's considerably weaker than your current portfolio. I like that it's snappier than what you have now, I'd recommend incorporating that as well as some other bits you like about your new portfolio into what you already have.

Your new one is really plain, it feels like the generic faux-designer portfolio kind of deal. However, what you have already is actually memorable and has always stuck in my head because it's relatively unique.

Hmm... Alright, I see what you mean, maybe I'll try to do a new version of my current one - change the layout and stuff but keep the style. Thanks on my current portfolio tho.
This made me think:)

Visually it looks pretty good, but i would have to agree with 28, i reckon ur other portfolio is better.

Few things i dont like about this one, im running at 1280x1024, and it just looks really small on the screen, like i reckon it wouldnt fill the screen even at 800x600. But hmm, thats an opinion thing i guess. If you were going for small and compact it defiantly works that way, but i guess if try and fill the whole screen u get issues about having too much blank space, and then it just looks sparse etc.

anyway, moving on to my next point. font, as its been mentioned before. Yeah a portfolio is supposed to display your creative flare or some shizzle like that.. hehe.. and verdana is never gonna do that. have a scout around for a groovy looking font, but i know its tough to find one that walks the line between groovyness and simpleness perfectly, but im sure you'll find one.... eventually.. :)

Then my third and major point that colombianking bought up, and we all see so many times with flash portfolio. Why flash when it looks like HTML, i know you said you wanted to use flash cause your teach bought it for you, then i would def recommend displaying some true potential of flash, and not just a few fades. You know what i mean, if you're gonna use flash you should do flashy things with it, and not just replicate html with a few fades.

What im trying to say is, its good in flash, but flash could make it sooo much better! :thumb:

Anyway still nice work, and im sorry ive been a bit harsh with some comments, but ive always been a fan of your work, and itd be great to have an awsome whizz bang portfolio to display it all. :thumb:

Keep up the good work man!!

-Phorte

EDIT: I just properly read your first post, and if its for a school project, and your trying to demostration ur leet flash skills, haha. I would probably steer away from a standard content menubar layout, and try and think of some other cool way of navigating and display the content. Like i always had a vision of my folio site being like a starfield, and u click on different stars to go to different sections and it zooms into the stars to show different pages. Anyway, obviously it would be more work doing something completely different, but much more rewarding i think. Something to think about, or just completley disregard my post. :D

Later man.

Thanks phorte, that was a long, but very usefull comment:)

f its for a school project, and your trying to demostration ur leet flash skills, haha. I would probably steer away from a standard content menubar layout, and try and think of some other cool way of navigating and display the content.Hehe, well it's not meant as a "show-my-flash-skills-site". The project task was to create a website, and I chose to do a flash-made portfolio:) It was a great opportunity for me to redo my current one. But I see what you mean, and it would be fun to do a creative nav or something, but that would involve a lot of AS and thats not my strongest side.. yet;)

When it comes to the size, as you said it might be a little small and I would also like it to be larger, but then I would end up having a lot of blank space. I will try tho, to figure something out! Like the other guys said too.. I will try to find another kool font.

And of course, make it more FLASHY:D

thanks again=)

The gloss looks a bit corny and the fonts needs crisping up. Nice colour scheme though :)

I'm a jerk and didnt bother reading any of the previous comments, so heres my 2 bucks:

1. Why have "news" and "recent news" on your homepage? thats like, an explosion of redundant news. your bottom two chunks should both be "Recent Works"

2. Theres a lot of empty space around everywhere... but like you said its not done so whatevs

3. Page transitions?

4. Your homepage is your news page, but the news page isnt your home page... catch my drift? When the user first goes to the site, its on news, but theyre not officially in the news section of your site... another useless redundancy. Add a "home" to your nav, and make an official home page.

5. YOu need some more images in your layout as a whole.... the site is about you, not black and pink, so put moooooooore of your stuff everywhere

6. I hate your contact form, add an onPress listener or something to those textfields that erases the text you have in there when the user clicks into the textfield.

No submit button??

7. I Say make your "recent works" chunks at the bottom of your page that are spanning your entire site right now, change to suit each page the user is visiting.

I'll add more points when I think of them
