Band Logo: Anyone Fancy It?

Hey all,

My new band need a logo.. We can't offer money I'm afraid.. But if you're just in it for the art, and fancy giving it a go.. then excellent!

Our name is "Chopper" .. We're sorta **** rock, think Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, GNR, Aerosmith etc.. It'd be great if the logo could be in vector format, like eps or something..

someone like DDD is going to come along and tell you not to post stuff like this - the best thing to do is each band member throw in 15 dollars or something and then you can offer payment. Assuming there are 5 band members - that's 75 dollars - that way some sort of logo might emerge :) if 3 band members then each pay 25 dollars each - not big money - good luck.

yourself and DDD are entitled to your opinions, but there are plenty of aspiring and amateur designers that use the forum, and the work that results from posts like hectics has, am sure attributed to many portfolios (including my own)

if yourself, or anyone else on the forums aren't interested man...thats cool, im well aware of the caliber of folk that frequent kirupa and that things don't get done for free ...but don't slap a guys wrist for askin, and certainly do not think this is the sort of post that 'should not be aloud' :sad:

I had my last band's logo created on here for free.. had about 5 different designers working on logos, all happy to do it for nothing... if no one wants to that's fine.. but like Zaid said, people may want work for their portfolio.

See thats where I have the problem. You are on your second asking, next will be the third. I am sure that you could offer something, since I am sure you hope to gain from having a identity. but I could be wrong. Not to play the Voice of all thet is Moral. But I am sure you wouldnt keep playing in a club for free when the club owner is making money from you. Same concept here. But you are by all means allowed to post things of this nature. Just be considerate to the folks putting effort into this. I mean 5-10 bucks, a free CD, amazon gift card. Anything would probably suffice.

To be honest, I didn't know it was gonna cause this much hassle.. just forget about it, I'll stick with the logo I made.

I've been a member of Kirupa for a few years now and I've never once had a problem or even an attitude problem with anyone.. But maybe times change.. all I did was ask, if you personally weren't interested, then don't bother posting.

Anyways rant over, hope people get cheerier nearer the xmas period, cos kirupa is a great place and wouldn't want it going sour.

You are well in your rights to ask this question and I am not knocking you personally (sorry if I came across that way). But it is just the principal in general I was referring to about folks asking for free work that they stand to gain from thats all. Just voicing my opinion. Carry on :cop:

I dont mean to go against the tide here but isnt this just as much as a free forum as it is a barter? You get what you give, so I dont expect or hope that the logo's are quality work if someone does decide to pitch in.

Im speaking generally, this in no way means I agree with hectic's request for a second helping.

Lol sorry for my rant.. I was just so surprised, cos last time I posted pretty much the same post and 5 people said "ok, I'm in" and offered loads of attempts..

If you wanna check out the logo I came up with you can see it at www.myspace.com/chopperrocksyoursocks .. it's nothing special, but it's prolly a lot easier to use it than argue it out with u guys :P

Don't get me wrong tho, I do see where you're coming from :)

No as long as you understand we're all cool with you asking, many times people ask for work and offer no gratitude at all.

Next time you could offer anything, just to make it at least seem like you want to give something such as:

"
* design & coding help in the future
* full credit for your work to your URL
* my absolute appreciation
* partnership, link exchange
* a 1 week advertisement of your services/url in my footer
* a link & shoutouts to you on my myspace page"

none of the above require physical rewards, but it makes it all the better for the participant!
