Hello! I just finished setting up my forum ( BusinessForums.com (http://www.businessforums.com/) ) and would like to get some feedback from you guys in terms of:
- Layout/design
- Functionality
- Discussion topics
Feel free to comment on other aspects of the forum as well.
Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

- header looks out of place with the green gradients
- header looks kindy cheesy to be honest
- i'm not into business so not sure about the topics

I have tested my forum on many different browsers before I launched it and everything was in place. May I ask what browser you are using?
Thanks for the comments!

i don't think digi is talking about a browser issue. he means the header just looks bad.
here are my thoughts
design
the gradient mirror in the header is way too strong
your forums.php page should actually be the homepage. basically right now, the homepage is a splash page that doesn't add any value. it really slows down the user. and it will stop many users dead in their tracks. you should get rid of it.
you could use some different icons
you have a great domain name
content
you could use a Costs and Taxes (or something to that extent) subforum
you have done a good job selecting the categories. you have not made the mistake of many forum builders (having too many subforums too quickly).
i would consider changing the description for the Advertising/Marketing and Business Opportunities subforums
if you're interested in doing some online advertising, i have an entrepreneurship resource site going up within the next few weeks. pm me if you're interested.

it looks like an ad site for me for some reason...and the header should lose the web 2.0ish look. other than that, it's pretty cool. i love the greens:D

There is some redundancy in content. I'm not sure why you have the standard menu bar at the top of the page. Seems to me if you're going to have that there, you don't need the additional search box, or the additional login.
I'm also not sure why the calendar is so big. My computer already tells me the date......

looks ok, nothing so that some one yells "[insert one of my random phrases]" but its ok, maybe you should think about some more categories.

Not really a fan. Design definitely needs some work. I would suggest hiring a web designer/developer(post in the job forums here), or find one that will do it on a barter basis. It's not a bad idea to give your users an aesthetically pleasing visit. Research your competitors. There are a lot of forums out there like this(that i visit regularly) that have a huge edge over you as they cover more topics and their directives are much more clear. Also, IMO, dont use vb forums or at least default it to go straight to the forums. It's a pain in the butt to go through that main "hub" page.
Keep it up. Make some changes and I might even consider using your forum :P
PM me as you progress.
I also have some suggestions as for content that would be useful to your visitors if you'd be interested.

I'm sorry but I just don't like it that much. it is aesthetically pleasing to look at and use, but its just too generic for my tastes. For what it is its good, for what it could be its not that great
