Intresting topic. I often don't remember my dreams, and if I do, they are very weird or they are nightmares.

I remember being chased by Nazi soldiers in a brown, greenish environment... weird. I think it was in an old train station or in a concentration camp. I was running my legs off, hearing the bullets fly around me.

Another one was being on a bike, riding down from a small mountain path, after school (which was located on top of the mountain for some odd reason). It was really scary, 'cause it went fast and the rocks were making the task difficult. Plus, it was during the night and the only light I had was the one of my bike. Then I found one of my relatives dead on the path... I woke up after that. ;(

I could go on and on... oh, and I have good dreams too from time to time. ;)

By the way, is their a symbol that represents "dreams"?
Like, a V is the sign for Victory, we all know what the Nazi symbol is, and the male / female symbols. I don't know, an indian? A wolf? An owl?

I've got a weird one that I remember from way back. You're all going to think I'm a freak with this. :)

Basically I dreamt that aliens were invading the Earth. Only they had picked Chatham (a town near where I live, absolute dump, full of chavs) as the place to do it. I happen to be in Chatham at the time... only the place has undergone a bit of a renovation and there's water flumes everywhere for some reason.

So... these aliens are arriving and everyone panics, but not me. Oh no. I go into a Clintons Card shop, hand over a tenner and ask the guy behind the counter to make me invisible. He does this. Then he turns himself into a snowshaker.

I'm not making this up. I couldn't make up something this bizarre if I tried.

So I'm wandering around invisible while all these aliens are walking on the streets, and then it all gets a bit fuzzy.

Alright, so maybe I am a freak. :P

The dream I had last night I'll PM you about separately. :bad:

I used to have strange dreams about fire, that I was stuck inside a burning building...

And I remember one really cool one (I must have been watching Die Hard or something that evening) where me and my friends were defending the building where I worked... We were running round with guns and stuff, that was funny. :P

Hey! Nono, you heard Soul, Kit! Bend the rules! He's the rule-maker of this thread so you just *have* to listen to him. :P lol

Soul, about the bull dream, that's normal. No one can die in his own dream, that's just not possible. I don't know why, but it's a fact. It's like, when the bullet is *just* going to hit you, or when you *just* are going to fall in a very deep well... you wake up. It's like your brain tells you "hey, wait a second, you're not dead yet!".

Strange stuff, dreams.

Anyway, we're ready Kit :P

You haven't heard that term before? I guess it's a Medway one...

OK, the area where I live (Medway) is well known for the state of the people that live there. It's a bit pikey anyway, but there's a lot of people walking round with a ton of gold jewellery, tracksuits, baseball caps, greasy hair, attitude problems... They look really stupid, and haven't got much in the way of brains. These are what we call 'chavs'. :)

last night i dreamt that i was some scientist performing an experiment on this girl in a coma. for some reason she was submerged in a tank of water and had all these tubes going from her nose and mouth. suddenly she opened her eyes, shot up and grabbed me by the neck and started choking me. at that point i woke up.

I think usually in dreams that involve pain and bathroom activities it means your brain is trying to tell you that you are in pain or have to go to the bathroom. You were probably sleeping with you arm around you neck wierd or something.

I guess having a really hairy chest is finally good for you.

To see hair in your dream, signifies sexual virility, seduction, sensuality, vanity, and health. It is indicative of your attitudes. If your hair is knotted or tangled, then it is symbolic of uncertainty and confusion in your life. You may be unable to think straight.

To see your chest in your dream, signifies confidence, conquest and vitality. Alternatively, it represents feelings of being overwhelmed and being dangerously confronted by something. Consider also if the dream is telling you that there is something that you need to "get off your chest".

Okaaay... This is what they said about the aliens:
On a psychological level, seeing aliens may represent an encounter with an unfamiliar or neglected aspect of your own self. This is the closest I could get for the snow:
represents a clean start and a fresh, new perspective. It is indicative of spiritual peace and tranquility. And my other dream meant this:
...signifies that others will try to persuade you into illicit pleasures and abandon your own sense of morality. :P

I have, Soul. I had a dream once that I was helping Russian Beer write VRML through PMs. It was really pissing me off cuz I couldn't get the code right. And one time I had a super dirty dream about someone... on here... they know who they are. ;)

Most of my dreams are lucid. That means that your conciousness recognizes that you are dreaming. There are many levels of lucidity, from vaguely being aware of your concious existance, to full recognition and ultimate control. I have a lot of control which can be quite the experience. But some elements in dreams can not be controlled; these are elements from the collective consciousness. Reoccuring characters can be an external force or an internal, but with me they are usually external.

Modern culture unfortunately doen't hold much validity in dreaming, and dreaming is virtually a lost art. But there still exists a tribe in Malaysia called the Senoi that bases their society on dreams. They are very family oriented, and live in community longhouses, with each family having its own section. Breakfast consits of a dicussion of the night's dreams, and the people base their community activities on such. Morning chores are done, and the bulk of the day is spent in the celebration of life and the preparation of decorations and costumes for festivals and stuff. They are extremely healthy, and never fight, amongst themselves or with others. They are surrounded by war-like cultures, but exist in a utopian peace because the other tribes fear that they are magical and supernatural because of their health and serenity. Although the basis of their society is not practical for our modern lifestyle, much can be learned from their approach. They belive in confronting your fears and obstacles in dreams, and since most of the bad things in our dreams come from within, when we confront them we can learn a lot about ourselves and grow from that.

I have one reoccurring dream that bugs me the heck out and I have not been able to interpret or bring myself to face it. Basically, I am trying to get away from something. I am seeking refuge in a room with a door, but when I try and close the door, it is about 1-2 inches too short for the frame (width-wise), so it will not close. Sometimes I can stretch the door manually, and get it to close, but usuallly I can't and whatever I am runnign from seeps through the door and envelopes me in darkness....

my mother was big into dreaming, sleep cylces, etc.

I, myself dream lucidly most times I remember my dreams. I rarely remember the entire recurring dream. Just for weeks at a time sometimes my dreams will "degrade" into a certain focal point. It could be a metallic square at a certain angle pared with a certain sound, that will just give me the chills. Then they go away... I still get weird feeling when I will see something in real life (I'm assuming this is real life) that keys that same response, and that image will appear in my mind for a split second.

Luckily, while I worked as a retail manager (in order to stop dreaming about work), I taught myself how to wake myself up if I dreamt about work. It became habit, and I use the same kind of technique to get out of all kinds of situations. It rarely fails.

It's even more fun(gus) when done ritually, or in groups...

hehe, fungus. Has anyone ever seen Waking Life? If you are interested in dreams, awesome animations, or even just funky trips, it's a good film to check out. Your bit about dreaming about work reminded me of it reverend. When I started a managing job a few years back, they were working me so hard that I dreamt about work all night too for about a month. It was quite hard to break that one. Usually in dreams I am wearing what I wore to bed, unless I change my clothes in the dream, so I just slept in the buff, and that killed my inclinations to work in my sleep. It certainly was a good "hellO YOU are DREAMing" call. hehe.

I love it when I invent new people and animals. Tho, it was tough to stop dreaming that my mom and her mom were still around, and going on trips with me. They started about a year after they passed away. Lasted for months... kinda freaky. I knew in my dream they weren't real, but I played along anyway...

hmm....

The thing you are trying to get away from (whatever it is) is some sort of problem you are having (probably emotional as you don't seem to give it any particular form). The fact you are seeking refuge IN a room instead of escaping a room shows that you are seeking solace and your own personal space, perhaps trying to escape from the world outside. The thing seeping through the door and covering you in darkness and the fact you keep dreaming this shows that you see it as inevitable.

As for the door not shutting, that could be a number of things. Maybe the door represents some sort of emotional barrier you have built, but you see it as being built wrong. Or maybe you actually WANT this thing to get you.
Somtimes you can stretch the door, so this shows that sometimes you feel you have the strength to deal with whatever problem is, and sometimes you feel you cant.

TheOrangeOne

its happened to me, whenever i dream i die, i wake up from the shock! Although i suppose that nothing else happens in the dream, if thats what you are trying to get kajinku.

Kajinku
June 3rd, 2003, 03:41 AM
Yes, almost. :) Just when the bullet is going to hit you, just when you are about to fall (sometimes even with the picture of yourself falling), you wake up in shock. *In* the dream you can never see yourself hit by the bullet, or you can never see yourself splash on the bottom of the well. Usually people think they saw themselves dying because your brain "stiches" (sp?) the obvious ending to it, but you already woke up by then. You can see other people die in your dreams though.

There's a small exception... people can see themselves *being* dead in a dream, like a ghost looking at its body. But there's never a cause to the death in this case.

I hope this is clear enough... my English isn't working to well today.

TheOrangeOne

Yeah, i know what you mean. I have seen myself die once, but it was like watching someone else die - I didn't feel any pain. Almost as if i was a ghost watching it.
Dreams like that shock you, but they're ok because you wake up and you KNOW you are still ok and it was a bad dream.

The worst dreams are when you imagine somthing bad happening, nothing really bad, but somthing that will worry you for the rest of the day.

.... one, two freddy's gonna come for you ;), good thing you don't die in your dream cuz in the movie that was bad =)

intresting topic but i don't have much to say in it since i usually don't remember my dreams. Sometimes there is one that really pops out most of the time because it's so spooky i wake up in the middle of it.

Like this one time i was walking around n the town i live in. everybody i know lived there (reall strange since some ppl i know live quite far away).

i was just walking down the street with some friends when there when the power went off. Everything was pitch black. and then there was an alien invasion. big lit up ships hovering over the city. We tried to run but every one had turned into an alien already.. yeah i know it sounds like the average hollywood b-movie but it was quite a creepy experience ;). Especially the feeling that you are the only one left alone on earth, and there isn't a sound around you. (lol yeah i dream in color and thx sound ;) )

freakiest thing bout some dreams is waking up in the middle of em and not knowing you dreamt it or if it's real

A lot of interesting dreams you all have :) I don't usually remember most of my dreams, but here are the top 5 wierdest dreams that I recall being in:

1. Dressed up like Link from Zelda and running around with a sword slashing strange plant things; some of those plants were the very same ones my parents requested me to help plant earlier that day.

2. Instead of me throwing small ping-pong balls at my cat to chase around the floor, I was chasing the ping-pong balls while my cat watched over me and laughed - that was a long time ago.

3. Entering into a huge Matrix-like building with a lot of people and a few minutes later finding myself in some upper-level floor with everyone outside on the ground while I was all alone up there. I could fly though, so I flew down :)

I guess I only have three that I actually remember...

Cheers!

lol. ok, this isn't directed at you kajinku, so please please don't think it is, but i know what those scientists think too, and it makes me RILED UP that they think they can determine what my brain can and can not do. i've reserched dreams and brains and all that juicy stuff, and i am well aware that the common opinion is that it's not possible. but lets look objectively at the human brain. how much DON'T we know about it compared to how much we DO. you'll see that we know hardly anything, when looking at the whole picture. basically, i know what science says, and i also know that science is dead wrong on this one.

here is a light sampling of my death experiences:

*one time i was on top of a building, and the world was blowing up, and there was this huge mushrooming ball of fire ripping across the world getting closer and closer. i just looked at it,, cuz what else could i do? hehe. anywhoo, the fire finally reached me, and my entire body exploded/incineerated simultaneously. at that moment, i could feel the sensations of becomign particles and blowing off into different directions, and after that my dream consiousness floated a bit above and saw the fire, and the ruin, and some more stuff happened, but that's not the interesting part

*one time i got into this fight with someone and they were trying to kill me and i was tryign to defend myself. but they had those big long finger blades, like whats his name from that cartoon, so he was winning. anyway. he won. he cut me up across my arms and chest, and yes, it hurt. then finally he sliced my throat open and left me to die. in the dream i was in excruciating pain and also i was suffocating and choking on my blood. soon i died. everythign went black and just stopped.

*another time i was in a hospital. it was filling with water, and i was drowning. eventually i died. that one was interesting cuz i really was in a hospital, and i really did die at that moment in real life. but then i came back to life. (cuz i couldnt leave kirupa.. hehe)

*lots of other assorted encounters with evil things, wild animals, accidents, old age, all sorts of ways death occurs. sometimes things just stop. somtimes after a bit my dream consiousness will rise out of my body and move on to do other stuff. sometimes my consiousness will leave my body before i die and i will see myself die like orange's. one time my consiousness actually went further inside my body,a nd i watched myself die from the inside out; saw all the cells dying and stuff.

oh well. there ya go. :beam:

p.s. thanks orangeone ;)

Anyway, I really enjoyed reading your dreams... if that's a correct word for them. Pardon me, but they are very f****d up! ;)

Wha-what?! Did you have a BDE (that's how we call it over here)?! That might explain why you actually *can* see yourself die in your dreams. Again, scientists are convinced that after such a BDE experience (*), the person is not afraid of death anymore, which can create... well... your dreams.

You have an intresting brain there. ;)

(*) BDE, in Dutch = Bijna Dood Ervaring.

yah, i know :beam: we're cool, i just had to blow off steam at some scientists in my little rant. my whole life they've been trying to tell me that science says this, and science says that, and lots of things i know to be true aren't real or are just illusion because they aren't physically possible...
no one knows my body like i do. and it gets my goose broiling that modern "eduamcated" scientists think they have the right to say they know more about me then me..
i could spew off some more examples, but i think this dream bit is sufficient.. lol... kirupaland doesn't need to know that much about me.

ok, enough of rant part 2.. lol ;)

hehe, good thing you translated that for me, cuz i had no clue what you meant. :)
yeah, i did have one. after an accident, i'll leave the details out, but i was in the hospital and was pronounced dead. i can only assume that's when i died in the dream as well. although in a situation like that, you start to wonder about your states of consioucness, and how dependent they are on eachother, and how reality plays into that too. ah, well, that only happened 3 years ago, but i've been dreaming the death dreams long before that. hrm. that's interesting, that they say that after you have no fear of death you can have death dreams. perhaps that "door" simply has to be "unlocked" then for a person. verrry interesting.. *arching eyebrow*

The last 2 nights I have had dreams about UFO's and aliens. The first one wasn't anything special. Just saw a couple of UFO's. The second dream though was a bit more interesting. Somehow I had got into what seemed to be a top secret room and there were aliens inside and one of them was friendly to me :) I only remember parts so it might sound a bit weird when I write it here. I can remember being shown how to be invisible to other people and how to walk through solid objects... uhh that might be all I can remember... there was more I know but I just don't know how to put it all together.

It was cool. All I had to do was say "invisible" and it did the trick. :beam: I wonder if I will have a 3rd alien related dream tonight.

I don't know if anyone has posted this question but you know how we have hundreds of dreams a night (maybe?)? Well are the dreams you remember always the last ones you have jusst before waking up?

Invisible... :alien:

I had a very very twisted dream last night. Well to be honest I have been having trouble sleeping and having strange dreams when I do for the past few nights. Which is odd considering I dont dream often.

If your interested:

*****************************

It was a b-day party for me being held at my godmothers house (who I haven’t seen in years) with all the extended family I never see there. But it wasn’t her house, It was this gorgeous mansion on a hill. There was this cute older chick that was hitting on me wicked hard ..... she then took me aside after a while...for well yaknow...anyway....she turned into this freaky demon-ish thing once she got out of the sunlight. Did everything in her power to scare the hell out of me. From making things disappear making vampires appear. But only I was the only one that knew this because wherever my family was there was sunlight so she looked normal.

So I tried to take off in my car, bombed down the street until she was behind me, a cop was chasing another car in the crossing street so i slowed down not to hit them, and the freaky chick slammed into the back of my car. Then I looked behind me and she wasn’t in the car behind me anymore. So I got out and went to look at the damage only to notice all four tires on my car had been slashed. I look to the front of the car and she was standing in the woods holding a knife smiling and waving.

So I ran back to the house where everyone was. She was already back there, now with this guy that was also freaking looking. They kept making very scary things happen whenever I was alone. i will spare you the twisted details.

I tried to explain what was going on to my oldest sister and her husband. Dave (her husband) wouldn’t even look at the freaky two. Lauren just thought I was cracked. So after a while of windows blowing in on me, TV’s flying around the room and horrible noises. I decided to go out buy the pool and get out of the house.

So I was swimming in the pool and the evil chick came out. Wearing bathing suit and jumped in the pool. She came up to me and apologized and said she wanted to make it up to me. (Hey it was a dream)

So I accepted and followed her into the house. Down this long hallway that just ended with a long wall. She pressed on a certain part of the wall and it opened up and we went it. It was this small dark closet. That creepy guy was in there too.

So she hands me this creeeeeeeeeeepppppyyyyy old dirty doll that my mom used to have in a chest in the house I grew up in. It was this old dirty doll that when you tipped it right side up the eyes would open and say mama.... but it sounded so horrible and evil because the mechanism inside it was from the 50's.... uggghhhhhh I hated that thing!

Anyways she started pressing different parts of the doll and it would make even more evil noises like kids singing and laughing.... it was messed.

So I all of a sudden (and I have no idea how) figured everything out. She was Daves (my sister’s husbands) ex girlfriend and was trying to scare me into getting him to talk to her again. Not to get back together but just to talk because he abruptly left her.

Mind you this never happened in real life I completely fabricated it in my head.

So I flipped out and called her out that she wasn’t a demon or a vampire called her every bad name I could think while smashed her in the face repeatedly with the creepy doll.

Ran out to where my family was all while dragging the creepy guy by the throat and threw him on the floor in front of them. He turned out to be the girl’s husband and was just playing along with the idea she had. I was so furious I just kept kicking him in the stomach probably 30 or so times.

I then flipped out on my family about how twisted this was to do on my birthday....

Then all of a sudden my legs didn’t work and got all numb.... I couldn’t walk and I fell to the floor. I crawled back to the driveway... that’s when I woke up completely covered in sweat....breathing heavily.....

it was a creepy dream, entertaining for me has to be said, but yeah quite creepy

I can sympathise with the end cause that happens in some of my dreams. My legs go numb and I can't run just as I'm being chased by something or somebody

my girl is jealous cause I can sometimes have dreams about a tv show or movie and I'm not in it. I had a dream once about Michael Douglas caught up in some kind of cover up and I wasn't even in the dream. That was an entertaining one, I woke up looking for a notepad and pen but by the time I'd found one I'd forgotten the plot.
Last week I dreamt I was in CSI and the locals we're pissed off at me cause I'd uncovered some evidence to implicate the local hero and I was trying to phone Grissom but I didn't have his number on my mobile. I actually woke up thinking "D**k, imagine not having your bosses number on your mobile"

The one dream I have never forgotten was when I was really young, like 3 or 4 or something. I was walking along the road and someone was cutting their hedge. They shouted at me and were horrible. Hi guys...

Some of you mentioned the feeling of being numb during your dreams. And that this "thing" occurs when some kind of monster chases you... i saw this program once where some scientists were explaining this experience. I'm gonna try make this short (so that you don't fall a sleep!! ...ok that was cheap!)

Well the reason why people tend to experience this numbness during dreaming was according to this program, the fact that the brain during sleep release some kind of hormon or whatever that mildly paralyses you. This is basicly done to prevent you from running around IRL when you are in fact only dreaming that you are running around!

To sum all of the above up in short terms: -in some states of dreaming you can sometimes wake up just enough to feel that you are paralysed but without actually waking up! And that often occurs when people are having bad dreams!

I hope this makes some sense to you guys...

in one class they were talking about dreams and the lecturer asked someone for a recurring dream and he would tell them the reason behind the dream. remember the lecturer is a qualified psychologist. this guy puts up his hand and he says "I have a dream my teeth keep falling out"
the lecturer says "actually this is a bit personal and I don't think I should say the reasoning behind your dream in front of the entire class"
but the guy says "no I don't mind, on you go just tell me"
so the lecturer says "fine. The reasoning behind your dream is...you masturbate too much"

Last night I had a dream that I was at somebodies house and they had a dirtbike. But Nobody knew how to ride it. I use to have a dirbike so I was showing poeple how to ride it, except I was really just showing off on it doing a bunch of tricks and jumping around on it. There was some kind of ramp on the side of this guys house. When you hit this ramp you would go straight up in the air, and you had to turn the bike sideways and land it. I was pretty good at it, and I kept jumping higher and higher. Then one time I jumped really really high. In the middle of the air I got that "oh sh*t, i'm going to crash" feeling. I remember looking down and there was just a bunch of concrete and stairs. I knew it was going to hurt really bad. Right before I hit, I woke up, swung my arm out, and knocked the light on my night stand over.

Overall it was a pretty cool dream. My dreams usually involve being killed, or killing, or blood, or something dying.

I have a weird habit of dreaming and sleeping within the realm of reality and conciousness... meaning.. i don't dream about pink toads singing me songs or getting chased by david bowie.....

I normally dream an alternate present.. what i would be doing if i was awake.. or something that i might do after i wake.... sometimes i dream snapshots of future events... and i don't notice until that event happens and that picture matches up with the current event i'm in... i guess deja vu... but i think of it more like tvguide for my life.... i'm not kidding you guys either.. .i really dream what i'm gonna eventually do... its scary.. but i can't comprehend whats in my dreams until it already happens... so... premonition skills i have not...

or sometimes i dream along with the sounds i hear around me... alot of times i get a dream where i'm walking and i trip.. and my feet literaly jerk like they fell.... and i wake up....

It's basically training yourself to be awake, and thus control your dreams. I was into it a few years back, and I have been thinking about getting back into it.

GL I had a friend/housemante who was really big into lucid dreaming. He did a lot of cool stuff in his dreams. He claimed he met other lucid dreamers too and had some crazy conversations.

The only time I'm ever able to wake myself up is when I have to pee. You know, you're running around in your dream, and you can't get anything done because you keep trying to find a bathroom. Then you brain takes over and says WAKE UP RIGHT NOW OR YOU ARE GOING TO EMBARASS YOURSELF. And you wake up and kinda go "whoa, I better get up". :ne:

I get that sometimes too, By the time I land I'm awake and in my bed, but I really feel like I was falling, it's odd...

This lucid dream stuff sounds cool. :D
